USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn is back with a hilarious new rom-com series.
Sometimes the wedding of the century calls for desperate measures.
And sometimes those desperate measures are to pretend the person you hate most is actually your boyfriend.
After years of working her tail off at her event-planning business, Maggie Mitchell is ready for a vacation. With nothing on her mind but R & R, she’s enjoying the warm weather of Bora Bora when in saunters Brody McFadden, her brother’s best friend and also her sworn enemy. Thanks to years of tension between the two—kicked off by a make-out session at her brother’s wedding that ended horribly—Maggie has sworn to stay away from the man. That is, until she finds out he’s in Bora Bora for his boss’s daughter’s wedding, hoping to use the trip to win a real future at the company.
Maggie promised herself she wouldn’t even think of work on the island, but as word spreads about the “wedding of the century” taking place in the midst of her vacation, she realizes offering her services as a bridesmaid and planner could bring her business to the next level. The only catch? She needs to pose as Brody’s girlfriend to get the job…while letting him stay in her peaceful bungalow.
Tensions rise, irritation flairs, and despite years’ worth of bickering behind closed doors, Maggie can’t quite squash the sparks building between her and her new fake boyfriend, especially when she learns the real reason their first kiss was cut short. But as the wedding day draws closer and everything starts to go wrong, it just might be Brody who sends Maggie’s business crashing down—and her heart along with it.

Bridesmaid For Hire is a spin off of sorts from the Almond Bay series where we get to meet Brody and Maggie and see how they come together. From the prologue alone, I was curious what could bring the two characters back together after the moment they had that did not go over well. Cue a trip to Bora Bora where Brody is there to wow his boss and Maggie is there to take some time off, relax and meet a guy in a speedo. But when she finds out that someone she wants to work with in the wedding industry is there, she will do anything to prove she is worthy. Even pretend to be the girlfriend of Brody so they can both come out on top.
I absolutely loved Maggie and the way she took hold of each and every situation. She was poised and in control and everyone loved her. She had an easiness about her and was the perfect match to Brody that was anything but calm. He was anxious, nervous and could not catch a break the ENTIRE time on the trip. He just continuously failed and it cracked me up each and every time. I liked that these two had a history and how they each decided to hide how they felt about one another until things came to a head. And when they finally spoke their truths, watch out. Ms Quinn knows how to give us awkward comedy, but she also gives some darn good explicit bedroom scenes and I was here for it! The banter, the chemistry and the hilarious hijinks were all played out well for the storyline.
Now, let's talk about the audiobook because I always say that Meghan Quinn's books are made for audio. And Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon absolutely proved that point times a million. Jason Clarke and his deep gravelly voice was perfect for Brody in every way. From his anxious self, to his bedroom voice, to his screeching because of Mother Nature, he had me in stitches AND hot and bothered. And then there's Erin Mallon that IS comedy. She captured the friendly and off the cuff remarks that Maggie was known for and really brought her character to life. These two made an already great story even better.
I loved the characters in this book and the way everyone came together to find some sort of happiness. Not only for Maggie and Brody, but for some side characters that I'm super excited to see in some future books (crossing fingers for 2 brothers in particular). If you're in the mood for some wedding romcom that has some great standout comedy scenes along with some spice so hot you'll need to fan yourself, definitely give this one a shot And if you're a Meghan Quinn fan, you will love the way she connects this book and its characters to past books.
