Publisher's summary

The people of a desert town found a girl’s body in the sacred river. When she started breathing, they thought it was incredible. When that same girl healed a crippled boy, the townspeople thought it was a miracle. When the girl grew up to command the dead to do her bidding, the townspeople knew she was the legendary pharaoh returned. But when Ashira’s divine abilities reveal her to the powerful Alvari Emperor, she must flee her town and find a way to claim her throne and liberate her people from foreign rule. But the only one helping her along the way is a shady assassin with a dangerous sense of humor. Can she seize her birthright, or will she end up as a corpse in the river after all?

Interesting Egyptian Style Tale

Starts with a group of Egyptian people who honor the various Gods but who are awaiting the reincarnation of "The Black Pharaoh". The MC Ashira is a young girl found drowned in the river and then is alive. As the years go by she is imbued with powerful abilities to heal and control the dead. Her companion sent to escort her to her final destination is Mwarthes who is of the Eclipse. He has a weird sense of humor and more then one of his actions promoted me to laugh. Narrator did a good job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

Reincarnation?

Rachael Dunn has written a creative story which begins with some people fishing a young girl's body out of their sacred river. To everyone's surprise, the young girl named Ashira recovers. As Ashira gets older, she manages to heal a crippled boy and she finds out that she can command the dead. When a powerful emperor becomes aware of Ashira's abilities, she is forced to run in order to avoid the plans the emperor has made for her. The tale is interesting and imaginative and I recommend it to others who like this genre. Eliza Summers' narration is good and her voice is pleasant. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

A strange story

This was a strange story about a girl with strange powers. It starts out with people from a small desert village finding a young girl on the bank of the river. They fear she will die but Ashira recovers. As she grows older, she heals a crippled boys leg. Then she later learns she can command the dead. Ashira believes she is a reincarnated Pharaoh who will lead her people in battle according to an old prophecy. Then a powerful emperor learns of her power and wants to use her for a wepon, so she flees. A strange but interesting story.
