Can there be love after loss…with a movie star?

Kate always had a sweet southern heart and lived the ultimate cliché of a happily ever after when she married her high school sweetheart and started a family where she grew up. But after tragedy left her widowed, she became a shell of a person, only holding it together for her son.

When action film star, Boyd Love, returns to their shared hometown after more than 10 years away, Kate is surprised to see him and can’t believe he asked her to catch up while he’s in town. After he learns she’s single, he drops a long-kept secret on her, opening a door she thought was forever closed.

But can a small-town widow and an A-List celebrity make it work? Or will their opposite lifestyles, and the miles between them, be too big of a barrier?

Fun, heartfelt and sizzling romance!

I really enjoyed this second chance at Love, Again romance! Kate is a young single mom, raising her adorable son, Mason, on her own after losing her husband last year in active duty over seas. She has a great support system in their small Georgia town and works with her mother at her flower shop. She gets a surprise visit from an old school friend, Boyd Love, who moved away to become a major movie star. He is back in town to visit his ill mother but wanted to catch up with Kate. When he finds out she is a widow, he is eager to let her know he has always had feelings for her but never acted on them because she was taken. They connect instantly and start building a relationship together. But can they make something work when they live in different worlds, states apart? I loved Kate and Boyd and cheered hard for their HEA. Kate was a loving and caring mother, daughter, and lover. Boyd was down to earth and so sweet with how patient he was with Kate as she worked through her guilt of moving on from her late husband, as well as helping her navigate the paparazzi, and seeing how she was so worthy of his love. Family meant everything to both of them and their chemistry was palpable.
Eliza Summers did a great job bringing these characters and story to life. She delivered all the fun awkwardness, emotion, and steam so flawlessly, making me enjoy this fun, heartfelt and sizzling romance even more.

Second chance after missed opportunity

Author April Berry and narrator Eliza Summers were both new to me. I would read/listen to both of them again.

I liked that in this case, the second chance was more of a missed opportunity, and not actually a return to a previous relationship. I also liked that the characters were more mature.

I received a copy of the book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Kate and Boyd

Every time I heard the pseudonym Bob Ross I chuckled a little.

Kate is a widow from Atlanta trying to continue raising her son after her husband died. Kate helps her mom in the family flower shop and when she gets an odd request from “Bob Ross” she soon finds out it’s actually an old friend from high school who has become a famous actor and wants to rekindle an old crush with Kate.

Can Kate move on after years of being on her own? Can Kate handle Boyd’s famous lifestyle? I can’t relate to the movie star lifestyle, but being married to my high school sweetheart I would question how I’d be able to move on. Kate has family and friends that are encouraging her to do what makes her happy, but that’s always easier said than done.

I would’ve loved to have a couple chapters or maybe the epilogue from Boyd’s point of view, but loved the narration and it turned out to be a cute story.

Cute, Sweet, and a touch of Humor.

I originally purchased this book and read it via kindle and have now listened to it as well. It is a sweet second chance romance with a tiny bit of humor sprinkled throughout. It handles loss and grief with a tender grace that leads you through all your emotions.
Kate and Boyd went to school together, but Kate ended up with another guy. Upon a returning visit Boyd now a movie star, found out Kate was single and decided to take a chance. Boyd is a truly stand up guy and lets Kate set the pace. The two are adorable together and manage to have you laughing and crying right along with them.
Now for the audio, I love the narrator. She voices Kate perfectly and really sets the perfect tone. However, I do not recommend doing what I did and listen to it at work, unless you have an amazing stone face. Despite knowing what was coming, I still did not manage to completely control my facial expression and got a couple odd looks from the customers. My coworkers are use to me having earbuds in by now. Please do not let my lack of stone face detour you though, as I found the audio version to lend itself to the story in a way that uplifted it and made it that much better.
Overall, you cannot go wrong with the print or audio version. Especially, for a reader that enjoys a steamy second chance romance with dash of comedy and a HEA.

I received an arc of the audiobook (I purchased the kindle copy originally) and am leaving this review of my volition.

Cute story

I liked the premise of the story, but the writing needs finessing ( too many repetitive words). Loved the narrator, this was my first time hearing them and thoroughly enjoyed their performance.

Second chance at love

I'm a sucker for a cinnamon roll mmc. Boyd is just that and he's had a sweet spot for Kate since childhood. His gentleness and understanding of her situation made me fall hard for him. Kate has had a rough time lately and deserves a good man. Will it be Boyd? Are their worlds too different? You'll have to read to find out. :)

The narrator did a good job with a southern accent. I liked the touches of sarcasm I could hear in her voice.

Note: while this story can be described as sweet, it is not a sweet = clean story. There are several detailed sex scenes.

I loved every minute of this!

I had heard the story’s about “the airport scene” and went in with nerves, but I was hooked from the beginning! I connected with Kate’s history as a milspouse myself. Boyd’s second chance was adorable, and I was on the edge of my seat to see how they’d work out! So sweet, it tugged on my heartstrings. Thank you, April!!
