Publisher's summary

My name is Joseph A. Peragine. I am a paranoid schizophrenic. On October 22, 2000, I tried to kill myself in a severely hallucinogenic state due to undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia. I was suffering from this illness for many years leading up to that day. Every October since I started my recovery in 2000, I reflect on my life and am extremely thankful that I was fortunate enough to have been given a second chance. I sincerely wish to humanize this severe mental illness by living through the positive example that there is always hope for recovery. This is my story told by me and my loving/supportive family.

**IMPORTANT NOTE WHEN CONSIDERING CHOOSING BETWEEN PURCHASING THE WRITTEN VERSION OR AUDIO VERSION:**

Due to part one of this series becoming an AMAZON TOP BESTSELLER in its category and the constructive and nearly unanimous feedback I've received from customers, I strongly suggest that you purchase the audio version as it is the recommended choice. Now, with the 2nd and third installments of my autobiographical series available, I don't actively advise customers to seek out the written versions of my books because the audio versions offer the intended experience. These audio versions differ from typical audiobooks; because in addition to the main narration, they feature music, sound effects, and serve as a sort of schizophrenic simulation with voices and multiple characters. It's like an audio-movie inside your headphones all from the first-person perspective of a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. All 25 hours of music were written and recorded by me over an 18-year period in various studios across the United States, making it my life's work. If you are hearing impaired, the written version may suffice, but keep in mind, it's a literal transcription of what is spoken in all three audiobooks, presented as a series of plays rather than a typical novel's structure. I appreciate you all! This has been an extremely therapeutic project for my continued recovery.

Very hard to get through

I understand that the author's mind is like the audio in the background and the overlapping songs, but this would have made a better impact in small doses. The entire time I was trying to understand him, I couldn't hear him with the sound of songs blaring. 😩 I really wanted to like this book too. As someone who grew up with severe ADHD, there are already multiple "tracks" going on in my mind, so the added levels stacked ontop of his words was so hard for me that I literally had to stop listening all together. I tried several times hoping it would get better but it didn't.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
