Publisher's summary

A year after her husband's sudden death, ceramic artist Tilda Fordwells finally moves into the secluded Welsh cottage that was to be their new home. She hopes that the tranquil surroundings will help ease her grief, and lessen her disturbing visions of Mat's death. Instead, the lake in the valley below her cottage seems to spark something dormant in her - a sensitivity, and a power of some sort. Animals are drawn to her, electricity shorts out when she's near, and strangest of all, she sees a new vision: a boatful of ancient people approaching her across the water. On this same lake in Celtic times lived Seren, a witch and shaman. She was respected but feared, kept separate from the community for her strange looks.

When a vision came to her of the Prince amid a nest of vipers, she warned of betrayal from one of his own. Prince Brynach both loved and revered her, but could not believe someone close to him wished him harm, even as the danger grew. In her own time, Tilda's grief begins to fade beside her newfound powers and a fresh love. When she explores the lake's ancient magic and her own she discovers Seren, the woman in her vision of the boat. Their two lives strangely mirror each other's, suggesting a strong connection between the women.

As Tilda comes under threat from a dark power, one reminiscent of Seren's prophecy, she must rely on Seren and ancient magic if death and disaster are not to shatter her life once more.

This one draws you in.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silver Witch?

This questions begs for spoilers. I enjoyed the whole thing so it's difficult to choose. I particularly enjoyed the part when Seren was visited by the water horse. The whole sequence involving the horse and the soldiers was captivating.

What aspect of Marisa Calin’s performance would you have changed?

I like her voice in general and it is best suited for Tilda. That said, her voice for Seren was too similar, though that may have been intentional. Still, perhaps a bigger difference in vocabulary or a stronger accent?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes. I have enjoyed this book best of the three so far.

Any additional comments?

spoiler! I didn't expect a mystery; I enjoyed that aspect. I look forward to the next one.

Captivating

This was one of those stories, that once hooked, I couldn't stop listening. If you're not into witches and magic kind of stuff, you may not like this book, but I found the mystery of these ladies lives intriguing.

Slow in the beginning but one of my favorite books

It was kind of slow moving in the beginning, but once it picked up pace, wow it was amazing. Absolutely loved this book and have listened to it several times now.

Highly Entertaining

I loved the two intertwining stories. Both female lead characters were both mystical and relatable. I just really enjoyed the journey this book took me on!

"The Sins of the Father are Visited on the Son"

What made the experience of listening to The Silver Witch the most enjoyable?

Marisa Calin did a good job of representing the characters in the story. After listening to the first few minutes I thought I would not like the book. The character development was nicely done and I found the novel surprisingly interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Silver Witch?

The realization that this may be a relative (don't want to give to much away).

Which character – as performed by Marisa Calin – was your favorite?

Of course, the witch during the medieval time (cannot spell her name). She was most fascinating because of her confidence.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No not really.

Any additional comments?

This was a really good listen and it makes you think about the "gifts" you may have inherited from your distant relatives.

Excited for her next work. Great narrator as well. Didn't want the story to end.

Everything plausible and then...

Surprise Shift of focus towards the end but hard to believe that a person could be Playing Sherlock Holmes while drowning in the lake. Overall an entertaining read.
