Publisher's Summary

Patricia Fisher is about to find out that 52 is the perfect age for an adventure!

When her life is unexpectedly turned upside down, ginaholic housewife, Patricia, doesn’t react as most would. Instead, she empties the bank accounts and jumps on the first cruise ship available - it just happens to be the world’s largest and finest, the Aurelia.

Less than 24 hours later, the world throws her the next curveball and so begins a race against time to prove she’s not a killer.

She has help though:
Her butler - his perfect Downton Abbey accent and penchant for folding napkins correctly should be enormously helpful!
A pretty gym instructor - can balanced nutrition and perfect abs keep Patricia out of jail?

Her chances don’t look great, but in our most testing times, we truly find our inner strength. Join Patricia Fisher as she learns that you are never beyond discovering a new version of yourself. The world will always look a little different once you have seen it through Patricia’s eyes.

Entertaining read

This is a light fun read, with charming likeable characters and a fun story, it's funny with a mystery added in. don't expect a clever plot or complex characters as this has none, but is an enjoyable, funny and easy story to relax and enjoy.

Lots of fun with murder!

Steve Higgs has another winner! Laugh yourself silly while glued to the story and the suspense. Incredibly funny dialog with characters who truly are. Plot revolves around Mrs Fisher, a fiftysomething ordinary lady with a not unheard of problem. But her response to that problem is to book an around the world cruise in the finest suite on the grandest cruise ship. She even gets her very own butler! But the next morning it's all gone horribly wrong and she is accused of murder and has to solve it against all odds. Great fun!
Stevie Zimmerman is fantastic as the narrator who manages the equivalent of a straight face!

excellent story of rediscovery

The story begins with betrayal and heart break. Then there is a mystery to solve with very little clues at first. The characters developed quickly and well thought out.

Voyage of Discovery

This was a great listen! I had read the book and enjoyed it so was hoping the audio would be good. I loved it! The narrator does a great job of bringing Patricia to life and I hope she will also bring us the second installment of Patricia’s story.

FRUSTRATING!

Ok, I’m glad I finished this. I was so frustrated that mid-listen, I paused the book and wrote a less-than flattering review. But I’m very glad I finished this, so am now updating my review. I’m genuinely looking forward to the next book.

Entertaining to Listen

Fun cozy mystery to listen to on a cold cloudy day. I would like a trip like this with a butler and a trainer.

Breathtaking great fun!

I enjoyed every minute of this delicious breakup story. Steve Higgs is remarkably in tune with the plight of a middle-aged woman who is dumped by a misinformed husband who thinks he can do better.

Gaining new confidence

There wasn’t much about Patricia Fisher to like or notice at the start of the book. She starts to shine upon acquaintance. Patricia was determined to figure things out after strange circumstances find her accused of murder by the cruise ship’s second in command. I like the Patricia Fisher that emerges at the end of this book.
The narrator does a good job.

Good story terrible narration

I enjoyed the content, a lighthearted murder mystery, but the narrator and her attempts at various accents was awful. As a person of colour I felt slightly embarrassed by her dreadful what was supposed to be Jamaican accent, it sounded Welsh!

Fantastic introduction to the series!

I'd been reading the books out of order but they are still wonderful as a stand alone read. But this one starts off the Patricia Fisher books and explains how our wonderful sleuth became a sleuth. Her bravery and quirks are very endearing, as aren't we all a bit hesitant to jump into the deep end of the pool for the very first time taking a swim? Loved every minute of it!
The narrator holds the listener enthralled as she moves unerringly through each character, carrying you along for the ride so you never wonder who is actually speaking in the storyline. Well done!

Bright, lively and so entertaining that the occasional factual errors can be ignored. The characters are distinctive and one can connect with them.

Frothy

Diversion. Jolly hockey sticks. Muddle aged woman discovers middle aged redemption. Fun. This will not tax the intellect but will amuse and entertain.
