Publisher's Summary

Amanda Harper's life has changed a lot in the few weeks since she met Tempest Michaels.
Working out her notice period in Kent Police, she has already taken a new job as a paranormal investigator to work alongside him. She could be interested in Tempest, but even after she arrested (thankfully he was innocent) Brett Barker, the single, athletic multimillionaire heir to the Barker family fortune, he still wants to take her on a date to Paris in his helicopter.

How does a girl say no to that?

But Tempest has a case for her to look into: There is an elevator in a nearby shopping center that has a ghost in it. The specter has shown up on a photograph, and people's belongings have gone missing from inside the lift without anyone getting on or off. The shopping center manager wants the case solved, but will she be able to bring the spook into the daylight and reveal its true nature? Or will she get stuck in the dicksand with Brett like sassy best friend and police colleague Patience Woods predicts, and just be too distracted to solve crimes?

It is time to find out if she can be who she wants to be in both her professional and personal lives.
Best big girl knickers on.

Enjoyable short read/listen

My first (short) read/listen from authors Steve & Gemma Higgs. Well written & enjoyable reminiscent of authors Emma Calin & Jennifer Stevenson. Narrator Hannah Richter’s voice was perfect for this book and added to the listening enjoyment. Since I own both the Kindle & Audible editions I was able to follow along while being read to. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Fun Cozy Mystery

Amanda Harper is leaving her job with the police and is working out her notice period. But she is simultaneously working a case for the paranormal investigation agency she has joined. An elevator in a local shopping center seems to be haunted - there is a photograph of a ghost in the elevator and people's belongings have disappeared.
Meanwhile, Amanda has a crush on Tempest, the man who runs the paranormal investigation agency, but despite the fact that she recently arrested him, Brett Barker, heir to the Barker fortune, wants to take her on a date to Paris. And her sassy (and foul mouthed) friend and police colleague, Patience, tells her to try them both out!
This was a fun, short little cozy mystery and I really enjoyed it a lot. Hannah Richter's narration was very good and well paced. Higgs writing was tight and snappy, the characters were great and have me looking forward to more.
Get this book, sit back in a nice comfortable chair and enjoy!

Interesting

This was an interesting listen. My favorite character though was Patience. She cracked me up from beginning to end! The overall story was alright. I found myself entertained while Patience was in the picture and drifting a bit the rest of the time. It's not a bad story, not at all. It just didn't keep my entire attention from beginning to end. Would I read/listen to another by these authors? Yes, yes I would. The narration was okay. I found a few editing problems but nothing that took away from story. If you enjoy cozy ghost mysteries then this will be a series worth your time to check out.

Escapism

This audio book was well narrated. I found it amazing that the inhabitants of this town would readily accept the concept of a ghost as opposed to try and figure/investigate to see what the causes could be.

I figured out early who was behind the thefts. This was a good escape from the news of today.

It's very nice.

The story was pretty good. It makes me want to check out the others. I really wanted to give it all 5 stars, but the narrator had a few do-overs in the last chapter which weren't corrected.

Overall really enjoyable, but just a novella

This is worth the read, but I'm kicking myself for using Amazon's natchfinder to buy this. I thought this was a book and not a novella. At just 100 pages, it's well worth the read but not the expensive audio. I usually look at the length of the recording on the audible website. That is not available in the Anazon natchfinder. That being said, the narrator is excellent, her timing and voices keep you engaged. I liked all the characters and would like to continue in the series. It was a fun, fast paced story with her friend Patience being a great comic element. Mystery was fun too.

Introductory Novella

This short book will introduce you to Amanda Harper in her own right. The title has been recently updated I believe.
