2022 Barnes and Noble Best New Books of the Year Long-listed

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts introduces an unforgettable thief in an unputdownable new novel…

Greed. Desire. Obsession. Revenge . . . It’s all in a night’s work.

Harry Booth started stealing at nine to keep a roof over his ailing mother’s head, slipping into luxurious, empty homes at night to find items he could trade for precious cash. When his mother finally succumbed to cancer, he left Chicago—but kept up his nightwork, developing into a master thief with a code of honor and an expertise in not attracting attention—or getting attached.

Until he meets Miranda Emerson, and the powerful bond between them upends all his rules. But along the way, Booth has made some dangerous associations, including the ruthless Carter LaPorte, who sees Booth as a tool he controls for his own profit. Knowing LaPorte will leverage any personal connection, Booth abandons Miranda for her own safety—cruelly, with no explanation—and disappears.

But the bond between Miranda and Booth is too strong, pulling them inexorably back together. Now Booth must face LaPorte, to truly free himself and Miranda once and for all.

Good read…outstanding narrator!

I look forward to Nora Roberts yearly stand alone book…this was wonderfully entertaining…intricate intense and imaginative.
The characters were worth getting to know…the story was riveting.
But…the best part was the narrator! As we all know, the reader makes or breaks an audiobook. This was my first experience 👂 neg to Will Damron, and I am searching for more novels that he has narrated. Sadly, the ones I have looked at don’t seem to have very good reviews! Too bad…this man is GOOD! Hope he gets picked up by other producers!,

Will read again and again.

I’m a long time fan of Nora Roberts, this book was my favorite. Will Damron did a fantastic job. I grew up in South Louisiana, and the accents were spot on! Ms Robert’s has just the right amount of colloquialism. Some of the phrases or words I have always used, like calling the cat -Mineaux. Not too commonplace, but old Cajun French.

fun, and new

while this books does have the classics Nora Roberts and u can see the other influence shared in other books, this feels like a new story. I enjoyed the time spent as the character grew up and discovered there life and what they wanted. the relationships and honesty they had. it was refreshing to see. A good read for any nr fan

Great New Book

I have read almost all of Nora Roberts books, many several times. She continues to give us great characters involved in an interesting story. Sadly, I finish it in less than a day, I wish her stories would last forever, oh well on to another fictional world or back to revisit an old favorite.

Another reviewer compared Booth's character with that of Roarke from Nora Roberts' (Written under J. D. Robb) In Death Series. I have read every book in that series at least twice, and I strongly disagree. Booth is NOTHING like Roarke. If the antagonist in Nightwork had tried to threaten Roarke in the same manner, Roarke would have killed him, Booth just wanted a normal life, and Roarke wants to own as many properties and business as he can. While they both stole things, Roarke is building an empire, and Booth just wants the everyday. So, they are nothing alike.

Different

Writing style very different from what is a usual Roberts story. More broken, lots of groundwork and character build for the finale.

Another great from Nora

The only 3 star is the story. I wished the ending was different. Although climatic it was wrapped in a red ribbon. Overall it was a good book and recommend it!!

A very good book!

Nightwork was one of the best books I have ever read. The story is fabulous and the narrator is very talented. It has funny parts, sad parts, and some really scary parts. I loved this book.

Surprisingly great!!

I was afraid of the title and the main character, a thief but ended up loving his values and rules. Once again Nora has written a great book. And the narrator was awesome!!
