Grannies with Gumption 😊

These old gals will make you laugh until you pee yourself. I wasn’t sure how I’d like this series, particularly with Nikki, Geraldine’s “daughter’s daughter” having been divorced six times and now engaged again, but I actually ended up loving it. There’s always more to someone’s story than what we see on the surface, and this author is expert at peeling back the layers and revealing them. The series is clean, but not without enough innuendo to make for some very funny situations. But what I liked the most is that even though the situations the grannies get themselves in to are very much over the top, the underlying meaning and relationships that have built for many years between the grannies and their friends and families are rich and real. The banter and silliness between them are fun, and their personalities are all as different as night and day. For instance, one granny is writing school curriculum advocating “Hearts before Parts” (abstinence) while another is constantly flirting with the old man in the retirement community and buying him speedos. 😊 The grannies care and concern for their neighbors and for one another, and now for Nikki, who has moved in with Grandma Geraldine, is what makes the series. Their nonjudgmental attitudes, acceptance of past mistakes and ability to take life one day at a time are good lessons for us all. Underlying are biblical principles, which one would have to really dig for. I thoroughly enjoyed this set of Glock Grannies Mysteries, and I hope that there are more to come.

Misleading name

Although most of the secondary characters are older the main character is in her twenties. The "grannies" were various stereotypes of older people. The main character seemed both helpless and clueless. The big secret about why she behaved the way she did was definitely anti climactic.

Extremely enjoyable

I found this audiobook to be an extremely enjoyable listen. It has a great combination of mystery, murder and drama. The narrator does a wonderful job of reading this set of books.

definitely a must-read

I don't write reviews well I enjoy a lot of books and find them amusing very few make me laugh these had me laughing so much I recorded Snippets and sent it to my son who finally asked what book I was reading so he could get it and listen to it as well. these grannies live the life that I want when I'm their age not far from now. I finished these and was hoping to get more by the author but I don't see any yet hurry up and write some more I can't remember the last time I laughed so much.

Fun and funny but not for grammar Nazis

Enjoyed this book and enjoyed some good laughs. Unfortunately the grammatical errors set my teeth on edge. Needs a good editor.
