Publisher's summary

Andy Richter: TV icon and comedy legend, probably was born somewhere, grew up someplace, and maybe even did a bunch of stuff. All that boring garbage could be jammed into a classic celebrity biography, but to write that would take work and effort. Two things this Audible Original wasn’t about to stoop to.

Jam-packed with misinformation, outright lies, and probable slander, The Incredibly Inaccurate Biography of Andy Richter is totally - and tonally - wrong. A “lie-ography,” if you will, manufactured by some of America’s funniest and most ignorant writers, each working independently of the others, all following one guiding principle: a mutual disregard for the truth. And a mutual disdain for Andy.

Performed by Nick Offerman and disputed throughout by the actual Andy Richter, TIIBOAR traces the arc of Andy’s life, career, and even his ultimate passing (we just checked, and it turns out, he is unfortunately still alive). What’s more, it even covers his afterlife. How many biographies do that? (We did no research, but assume it is very few.)

Contributing writers include Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings, comedy legend Andy Daly, New York Times best-selling author Samantha Irby, and writers from The Simpsons, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Conan, and many more.

About the Creator and Performer

Actor and writer Andy Richter returned to his role as announcer and sidekick to Conan O’Brien on Conan when it premiered on November 8, 2010. Richter rose to fame in 1993 as O’Brien’s sidekick on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and reprised this role on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, which premiered in 2009. In addition to numerous primetime guest-starring roles, Richter starred in the Emmy-nominated series Andy Richter Controls the Universe for Fox and Andy Barker, P.I. for NBC. His feature film work includes Robert Altman’s Dr. T and the Women, Cabin Boy, Scary Movie 2, Elf, Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory, and Semi-Pro. He can be heard as the voice of Mort in DreamWorks Studios’ Madagascar films as well as the Nickelodeon series Penguins of Madagascar and All Hail King Julien.

About the Performer

Best known as the indomitable Ron Swanson in the popular NBC television series Parks and Recreation, Nick Offerman is an uncommon quadruple threat: carpenter, comedian, actor, and author. Offerman first hit the New York Times bestseller list with the release of his semi-autobiographical work Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living, and followed it up with the best-selling Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America’s Gutsiest Troublemakers and Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop. Recently he co-wrote The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History with wife Megan Mullally. Currently he keeps busy producing and hosting a lighthearted crafting competition, Making It, alongside Amy Poehler for NBC. As an audiobook narrator, Offerman has demonstrated an uncanny kinship with the work of Mark Twain. His narration of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer—which one Audible editor called "one of the best things I have ever listened to"—brought an American classic into the 21st century. Offerman's deadpan humor and delivery keep Twain's writing as fresh as ever.

Brilliantly innacurate

Hilarious, insane and inspired. If your the type of reader who likes a grounded writing, a logical plot line and facts don’t read this. But if you want a book that u can fall asleep listening to, wake up and just keep going because the last 40 page didn’t make any sense anyway this is your jam. Nick offerman’s delivery of material written by some of the funniest tv writers ever is inspired. Andy’s cameos to complain about how it’s all lies is even better. If you liked “true story” by norm macdonald read this book. If u were really into the latest winston churchill biography you might want to pass.

Dangerously funny

Warning! This book made me laugh so hard at one point I had to pull over to the side of the road. It's that funny. The premise is a whole bunch of comedians write chapters about Andy based on nothing beyond the existence of Andy Richter. So don't expect to learn anything about him. If you like absurdist comedy, give this a shot.

A joy to listen to

The stories are wild and really fun. Having Andy jump in at the end of each to deny everything is a great touch.

Have never laughed so hard at an audiobook

What excellent and hilarious writing. Nick Offerman's narration is superlative and I've always been a fan of Andy Richter who is the perfect subject for such a book.

I'm so thankful this was created.

I'm so thankful this was created. I love how the comedy just keeps getting more and more absurd. It is my favorite work of audio art and it is absolute perfection.

Liked it

Liked it much more than I thought I would. What crazy idea for a book.
Also, Andy’s tv show “controls the universe “ is a classic, IMO.
