Publisher's Summary

Nancy Cartwright, the ultimate Simpsons insider, gives voice to the boy immediately recognizable as none other than Bart Simpson. In this memoir, Nancy traces The Simpsons’ rapid rise to wild popularity, offers hilarious anecdotes about cast members and guest stars, and reveals what it’s like to be at the center of an American institution - one that reinvented the sitcom, rocked the TV networks to the core, and forever changed the face of television.

This new and updated audio edition represents a substantial revision of Cartwright’s 2000 book, My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy. Now enhanced with multiple audio clips featuring celebrity cameos from the The Simpsons, I’m Still a 10-Year-Old Boy is uniquely suited to the audio experience. Audio cameos included are by Danny DeVito, Elizabeth Taylor, Mickey Rooney, Meryl Streep, Kirk Douglas, J.K. Simmons, and Beverly D’Angelo as well as Simpsons main characters.

Since its debut on the Fox Network in 1989, Matt Groening’s series The Simpsons has become the long-running (more than 30 years strong, with 706 episodes) sitcom on television. It is a beloved and often prescient satirical depiction of American life, epitomized by the Simpson family, consisting of Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, and - of course - mischievous, rebellious, irreverent Bart. It continues to offer a biting parody of American culture, society, and television as well as the human condition itself.

Dear Listener,

What inspired me to tell my story?
"Before we had internet and network television still dominated home entertainment, I would get tons of mail from my loyal and dedicated fans. They wanted to know: What was my favorite episode? How did I get the part of Bart Simpson? How did I get started? We were rapidly approaching our 10-year anniversary and I thought it would be a perfect gift for my fans if I were to pen a book, not only about my personal journey but also about the production of the show itself. And so that is what I did. 20-plus years later, this new-and-improved audiobook will reveal even more in-depth anecdotes, like how I rented the Hollywood Dome for the premiere of The Simpsons Movie; how I broke my back in a hit-and-run; and how I found another voice—my inner-voice—that has to do with helping children and parents. My goal is to “flip the inspiration” by taking what originally inspired me and giving it right back to you. Snuggle in or drive to your destination. Either way, enjoy!" – Nancy Cartwright, creator of I'm Still a 10-Year-Old-Boy

Scientology?

You had me for 6 1/2 hours. Life story? Great. Bart stuff? Great.

Then you compare Martin Luther King Jr and Walt Disney to L Ron Hubbard? Laughable.

So entertaining!!!

Oh my gosh this book was SO much fun to read! I listened to it in my car and would often stay parked at my destination or in my garage when I got home because I couldn't stop listening to Nancy's delightful, entertaining and heartwarming stories! She shares SO much about herself, her background, how she became a voice artist, how she became Bart, how the show is developed and produced and so much more. If you're a Simpson lover, or even if you're not this is a must read. I laughed, I cried, I chuckled through out the whole book. To Nancy and Bart.....thank you for sharing!!!

WOW!! What an incredible journey

My wife and I completely enjoyed this story from start to finish. Be prepared to laugh, learn and tear up a bit. Nancy’s journey is an inspiration. We learned so much about her as a person, the profession of voice acting and we were in awe of her fortitude. Nothing comes easy in life. Nancy’s drive and commitment to her calling no matter what life tossed at her was amazing. Hearing her story in her voice and all her personality kept us riveted to this beautiful story.

A super entertaining in-depth look behind the scenes of the Simpsons and how to have the dream life.

Wow! I am so impressed! I can’t say I’ve seen every episode of the Simpsons but I admit I was curious about the person behind this global sensation Bart Simpson.
Boy did I get all my questions answered! This book is an extremely good example of how to do what you love, work really hard doing it, keep your life clean and have gratitude for everyone who helps you along the way. What a truly delightful and inspiring experience. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I laughed again. I ran all my errands and cleaned my house and made meals with Nancy’s gloriously warm and funny voice entertaining me through it all. I never wanted it to end. Such a refreshing, utterly feel-good book especially for this trying time. I am grateful for this book and have referred many people to it. Thank you Nancy, for being a truly honorable example of celebrity especially knowing how many children are looking up to you. ❤️

Entertaining - killer voice-over artist in action!

Totally awesome! I didn't realize it, but you have essentially one of the world's best voice-over artists, telling you stories, and she's really good. I am not an LOL type person, but I LOLed several times listening to this! Great story about Meryl Streep and several others in the industry. Loved it. Go Buckeyes!

Fun caring and interesting perspective on life in VoiceOver

I’ve got out of the habit of watching The Simpsons years ago. Life just gets busy. But reading this book makes me appreciate the legacy that The Simpsons has given us all and I hope it is round four a long time still. It was really heartwarming to hear how much she cared about her craft and how fun and full of life she seems to be
