Publisher's Summary

Debuted and currently #4 on the New York Times audio bestseller list!

Fifty-something David Spade is letting it all hang out. Older (yes), wiser (debatable), in A Polaroid Guy in a Snapchat World, the actor, comedian, and SNL alum reflects on his life then and now through a series of candid and hysterical (and occasionally cringe-worthy) takes on everything from why it’s getting harder to date younger women, to what it’s like being a dad now, to suddenly being the “old guy” on set.

Whether he’s musing on the alarming ease of breaking up over text (he’s done it), feuding with a teenage Internet celebrity (spoiler alert, he lost), or dealing with the friend from high school who became his full-time plus-one, when the star of Joe Dirt and Just Shoot Me unleashes his biting wit and dirty mind on the general freakiness of middle-age, he’s in a league of his own (not to be confused with A League of Their Own).

Written and performed for the Audible experience, Spade’s new comic memoir takes listeners along for the sometimes embarrassing and always hilarious ride of getting older in our fleeting “Snapchat World”.

Much better than the first one!

This book is such a good listen for when you’re running errands, driving your car to work, or simple things like that.
As David mentioned, it doesn’t add anything to your life, but it’s entertaining and light to listen to.
I find myself looking forward to head to the car for work just so I can listen to it.

hilarious but a bit repitive

David Spade is absolutely histarical, I nearly pissed myself multiple times. However there are a few jokes he repeatedly slides in here and there that I thought got a little annoying. Overall a great book and very funny! I listened while I worked (the whole book in one sitting) and do not feel as Spade suggests that 6 hours of my life where wasted.... Enjoy!

In my 20s, but still love it...

A lot of this book is geared at relating more towards those who aren't growing up in this "social media world". However, I'm in my twenties, and I grew up loving David Spade's comedy, so I wanted to give it a try anyway. I am so glad I did. There was a lot that was still very relatable. He's an amazing story teller in this. 6 hours flew by like it was nothing. I don't laugh out loud at much, but I really did at this, making myself look like a complete idiot many times. I would listen to him ramble like he did in this book for hours more! There are definitely some raunchy parts, but still hilarious. Such a well thought through look at his life.

No Fizzle for the Sizzler

I thoroughly enjoyed myself listening to this. Very funny and insightful about a comedian who doesn't get enough credit

Laugh out loud hilarious

A great performance of a story that is both funny and touching by a guy who far more decent and thoughtful than his public persona.

Cynical humor at its best!

If you are a Spade fan, or even if you’re not, this book is a witty take on life as it was and is now. As a 40 something woman, I appreciated the nostalgic SNL and Farley references, as well as the more poignant moments of Spade’s upbringing and early years. His sarcasm and cynicism are the perfect pair as he describes the many hilarious moments of his life as a “star”. While a bit raunchy at times, this book is worth the price and the listen. It’s laugh out loud funny in a world where we don’t laugh nearly enough. Thanks David Spade!!

Audio vomit

Absolutely disgusting. One of the worst purchases that I have made from Audible. The man is obsessed with sex. Even the mildly amusing sections are enough to justify the book's purchase. I am redeeming it for my credit. I would not recommend this title to anyone.

Self-deprecating and hilarious

David Spade is a great raconteur, so funny and self-deprecating, and occasionally highly inappropriate. I have heard quite a few of these stories before but it was such a fun six hours with this great comedian, it definitely left me wanting more.

Look how great I am

Bit dull, interesting at times but not enough beyond the scenes in order to grab me - mainly just David Spade asking for no apologies and boasting about his rep

Ridiculously good! Cheered me right up!

I'm already a fan of David Spade. This has made me love him even more. It's a little different to your usual audio book in that it escapes the constraints of the written word. It's more of a performance, he does sound effects and it often feels natural and ad-libbed. It feels like you're spending 6 plus hours in the company of David Spade making you laugh with all kinds of stories. The balance of self-deprecating humour and witty criticism of todays culture is spot on.

I was in a truly rotten mood before I put it on and found myself constantly laughing out loud and having to rewind parts to really savour it. I'll be listening to it again and again I'm sure. He mentions his previous audio book but it's not available on audible for some reason. I hope they can sort that out.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable 6 hours. I hope he keeps these up.

Buy this audiobook at your peril

I already knew of the egotistical David Spade from his many TV and film appearances. DO NOT buy this audiobook unless you want to be mercilessly, relentlessly entertained for hour after hour. This horrible little genius of a comedian is annoyingly witful, causing me to lack concentration when driving and blow coke through my nose on one occasion. His prose and timing are embarrassingly good and, frankly, I just became tired of his skilled delivery and filthy observations, laughing until I cried. So, in summary, don’t even bother if you like a predictable, safe, clean listen. Touche Spade.

Long but worth it

Spade brings his classic humour to his autobiography which leaves you feeling horribly sorry for him but chuckling all the while. I don’t recommend eating while listening to this but maybe some heavy alcohol instead. Happy Listening Joe Dirté

A Polaroid Guy in a Snapchat World

David Spade is a very gifted at storytelling and shares some of his life experiences (sometimes a little too much information haha from taking dick pics, the life of a plus 1 in Hollywood, being robbed, homeless people and a brief but pat insight into his childhood. Wished it was longer than 6 hours 12 mins and included more detail about his time at Saturday Night Live and his friendship with Chris Farley. Listening to it it goes down like a milkshake and will not tax the brain too much. Funny, witty and breezy audio sesh.
