From Conan O’Brien’s longtime assistant and cohost of his podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, a completely hilarious and irreverent how-to guide for becoming a terrible, yet unfireable employee, spilling her trade secrets for minimizing effort while maximizing the rewards.

Sona Movsesian didn’t wake up one day and decide to become the World’s Worst Assistant. Achieving such greatness is a gradual process--one that starts with long hours and hard work before it eventually descends into sneaking low-dosage edibles into your lunch and napping on your boss’s couch.

With a forward from Conan O’Brien, The World’s Worst Assistant is a mixture of how-tos (like How to Nap at Work and How to Watch TV at Your Desk), tips for becoming untouchable (like memorizing social security and credit card numbers and endearing yourself to friends and family), and incredible personal stories from Sona’s twelve years spent working for Conan that put their adorable closeness and professional dysfunction on display. In this audiobook, Sona will explain her descent from eager, hard-working, ambitious, detail-orientated assistant to self-awarded title-holder for the worst in history.

This book is irresistible fun you’ll want to give to every young professional in your life. For readers of heartfelt humor like that of Phoebe Robinson and Colin Jost, The World’s Worst Assistant is a chance for fans, viewers, and listeners of Conan’s shows and podcast to fall in love with Sona and Conan all over again.

Discover memoirs and essay collections, scripted podcasts, and even—in the case of our winner—a documentary series. The protean nature of this list makes sense for comedy, because there’s humor just about everywhere and in everything if you’re looking for it. Sometimes that humor is just plain silliness, but sometimes that humor gets down to the core of what it means to be a person—a way to make sense of the bumps and bruises we get along the way.

Not sure why I got this. It is very short. It is amateurish at best, and it is about a bad employee written by the bad employee. Sona is not to blame on this one. She is completely honest about how terrible she is. A complete slacker that does not care at all if she is awful or if her book is any good. There is a section of filler in the book. She uses a lot of words to explain why she needs filler. Just zero effort and zero f's given.

For some reason I like Sona and enjoyed spending money on this book. I usually try to get my money's worth with a longer listen. There's just something endearing about Sona's don't give an F attitude that I enjoy and want to support.

So if you want 5 hrs of decent entertainment I'd recommend this. If you are looking for a real book I would move along.

I know you're reading these reviews instead of getting actual work done. You nailed it. As a longtime fan of the show and podcast, watching you step into the spotlight over the years has been awesome. I literally had no free audible credits left... so I bought more just to get your book the day it was released. For anyone else reading this, definitely opt for the audible version (or buy the actual book too!). The audiobook is read by Sona herself, with an intro read by Conan. Hearing the author's intended inflection and emphasis on certain parts really brought it to life. My favorite part was the human centipede analogy to the corrupt working environment... perfection. Reliving some of the sketches/podcast stories through Sona's perspective was also a delight. Both hilarious and heartwarming, this book is a great read for fans and procrastinators alike.

Sona, you killed it.

The book is a comedic look at one of Conan's assistants. If you know enough about Sona to find the book then it is worth the buy. If you s
know nothing and aren't in on the joke, then ignore this review and buy a different book.

Brutally honest, but also hilarious book.

The amount of times I laughed out loud, the times I found myself choked up or tearing up. So, so comforting and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing this with us Sona. You guys rock.

Deeply moving and so much fun

Although I completely enjoy Sona on all of Conan's endeavors, I would prefer her lack of effort and motivation be a "bit".
That said, the book is well-written, and Sona does a great job of narrating.
It is also completely delightful as an illustration of a wonderful and fun
boss/employee relationship!

Would have been better if it were fiction
