Publisher's Summary

In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following 13 best-selling novels, "The 7th Month" takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren.

In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial-killer film shooting in Boston. D.D. figures she’ll be useful to someone for at least one night, serving as a police expert and making a little extra money in the bargain. It seems like a simple task—until the previous film consultant, a former Boston cop, is found beaten to death. Suddenly D.D.’s date with Hollywood gets serious.

Extremely pregnant, on the trail of a killer, and surrounded by a hundred and four murder suspects in the middle of a graveyard, D.D. must quickly unravel a tangled web of lies. As another cast member is attacked, D.D. realizes that like it or not, her priorities have changed—and her last desperate hope is that she can catch a killer before she and her unborn baby face mortal danger.

Packed with the suspenseful storytelling that has turned Gardner’s novels into New York Times best sellers, "The 7th Month" reveals new insights into a beloved series heroine.

unsure

I like Lisa Gardner books, but... the plots are great, the men who are confident enough to deal with and like DD Warren are very likeable... but I don't like DD Warren much and I do like intelligent strong women. But she is glutinous, horribly rude and self-centered. She comes across as wanting to outsmart killers for her own ego with little feeling for victims or co-workers. I am going to try one of the profiler series. I have read so many books that I look for mysteries where I can't always figure out the endings and Gardner is usually good for that.

One of my favorite series!

Nice little filler novella in the world of D. D. Warren. The story was short, nicely paced, and not completely obvious (which is my absolute favorite part of Gardner's writing). As always Kristen Potter does a fantastic job at the narration.

I'm all caught up with the D.D. Warren character. Also supporting characters. Thank you Audible.

very good for a short story

maybe a novella, but certainly shorter than most of LG's books. very fulfilling however. love Dee Dee and this book had more of her and Alex than some, so I enjoyed that. otherwise it is a good listen.

Worth listening too!

I wasn’t sure how a “short story “ would fit into the DD Warren series but it did.

I enjoyed this short but creative story. I couldn’t figure out who the second narrator was. Ahhh makes sense now!

I’m a big fan of the series and have been reading the DD Warren series in order. I guess you don’t have too but some books do talk about the previous ones.

Too short for my liking

Wish there had been more to this story. More of the pregnancy while being a cop would have been nice.
