WHO DO YOU LOVE?

One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter?

AND HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO . . .

As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets. Would a trained police officer truly shoot her own husband? And would a mother harm her own child?

. . . TO SAVE HER?

For Tessa Leoni, the worst has not yet happened. She is walking a tightrope, with nowhere to turn, no one to trust, as the clock ticks down to a terrifying deadline. She has one goal in sight, and she will use every ounce of her training, every trick at her disposal, to do what must be done. No sacrifice is too great, no action unthinkable. A mother knows who she loves. And all others will be made to pay.

Love you more . . .

Keeps you guessing all the way through!

I love Lisa Gardner's writing style. I couldn't imagine how she could come up with another top notch book complete with deep characters, a compelling plot, superb mystery and her signature emotional hooks. By turns, you find yourself pulling for a character and being quite certain they're the evil genius. Somehow Lisa Gardner makes you doubt your own conclusions, reverse your decisions, curse the good guys and root for the criminals. Lisa guides you through the twists and turns with more reliability than a GPS and at the end you know she's manipulated the heck out of you and you love her for it. "Love You More" was so tough to put down that I actually listened all day at work while pretending to get things done. Shhhh. Don't tell.

Go Lisa! GREAT book!

Edge of your seat listening!

Spell-binding, spine-chilling, beautifully executed twists and turns, always another story behind a story, making for a great plot and interesting surprises. Also, very importantly, GREAT NARRATION. Without good narration, any story, even an excellent one, can be rendered frustrating and non-listenable (which unfortunately, I've run across a few times with my Audible purchases). Not so here. Great story, great narration, a winning combination!

Cleverly Crafted Suspense

Stayed up all night listening to this one. Characters are well developed, the plot has twists and turns, and the story is quite believable. One of the best books I've listened to in the last year. If this doesn't make your heart pound, you are probably already dead.

Recommended thriller - with substance

I like the way this book is narrated with a different voice for each of the two main characters -- both rather under-dramatized but introspective, as if speaking from a personal level rather than acting. The low-key approach creates suspense and gives the listener time to become involved in the story, development of the characters, and wonder about or anticipate the next events. The thriller aspect is internalized and haunting, rather than the punch-punch, yell in your face narrative approach of the latest J.D. Robb book -- Treachery in Death. This book is more thoughtful, creative, complex and psychological. The author includes plenty of forensic and police work technical details to progress the storyline as an investigation, as well as portraying personal journeys for the two main characters. I haven't finished this book yet and am looking forward to the next chapters and wonder what the author has in store as an ending. I bet it is a surprise or at least unexpected! Entertaining yet has some substance and depth.

Excellent

This was my favorite of the series so far. I loved the contrast of the two narrators. Truly an excellent listen, keeping you interested and wondering whatbwould happen next. Absolutely worth the credit!

Awesome, Couldn't put it down

I hesitated downloading this book but am really glad I did. It is everything I look for in a book and story. the narration was fabulous and really helped make it enjoyable. I stayed up till after 3 am the first night as I couldn't put it down. It grabs you right fro the very start and never lets up. Some have said he ending was anti-climatic but I thought it was brilliant. If you thrillers or mysteries of any kind, you'll love this one. It's one of the best books I've ever read! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The first person narrator should get an award for the way she handled the story. She had the emotions, inflections and let you really "become" her character. Even if you are out of credits, this book is worth purchasing!

Don't mess with Tess!

STORY (mystery/detective) - Wow, what a ride! This story is intriguing and suspenseful till the very end. Tessa, a Massachusetts State Trooper, is accused of killing her husband and hiding or killing her young daughter, Sophie. There are two narrators telling the story from the perspectives of two of the main characters -- D.D. Warren, the female Boston detective investigating the case, and Tessa herself as she tries to find her daughter and clear her name. It's definitely not classic literature and there are a few places where I scratched my head as to a character's motive or common sense, but then the suspense would snap me right back into the story. Tessa is smart and tough as nails. You will love how she works to outsmart everyone, and you will totally understand my headline by the end of the book.

PERFORMANCE - There are two good female narrators, a deeper voice with a Boston-ish accent for DD and a softer voice for Tessa. I loved the distinction as the characters told their stories.

OVERALL - This book is cop versus cops, so there's action, cursing and killing, but nothing that I'd consider graphic violence. No sex. This is Book 5 in a series about Detective DD Warren, but the story stands alone. It's my first book by this author, but I plan to look for more. Women will especially like this story because they will identify with Tessa's plight, but guys will definitely like it too. Recommended for anyone who likes police procedural mysteries.

The best of the D. D Warren series!

Lisa Gardner is one of my favorite authors. The seven novel D.D. Warren series is great, but it is not may favorite of Gardner's series; that honer belongs to the Tessa Leone series which Audible does not classify as a series (the books in the Tessa Leone series in order are this book [Love You More], Touch $ Go, and Crash & Burn). So Love You More is a part of both the Warren and Leone series.

This novel is terrific for action and suspense. It also introduces as the main character Tessa Leone.

A real page-turner. Highly recommended!

Lisa always has you watching your own back!

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you," and Lias Gardner ALWAYS makes you paraniod -- another great installment to the series. Once you start, you can't stop until you get to the end, but you're worried about what's waiting at the end-- as usual. Can't wait for the next one.
