Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling series!

The first book in the New York Times best-selling series The Lying Game, by the author of the best-selling Pretty Little Liars series, Sara Shepard.

Shortly before her 17th birthday, Emma discovers she has a long-lost twin named Sutton Mercer. She contacts Sutton, who agrees to a rendezvous but never shows up.

Curious at first, Emma slips into Sutton's ultra-glamorous life, assuming her identity. When it becomes clear that Sutton is not coming back, that someone made sure she never could, Emma plunges in to investigate who could have wanted her sister gone (a fairly long list, she discovers).

Unfortunately, taking over Sutton's life means innocent little Emma has inherited all that bad blood - and then some. Perfect for fans of Sara Shepard's number one New York Times best-selling series Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game has all the juicy plot lines, to-die-for lifestyles, and compelling secrets that fans love.

Addictive

Any additional comments?

This series is really addictive and while I had guessed pretty quickly who the killer was I really wanted to listen to the rest of the series-- hear how it played out-- and confirm my suspicions. This is not at all like the short lived television series.

The Lying Game

I got the book because I love the short lived tv series and thought it was cool that it was based on a book series. I enjoyed the book. Cassandra Morris did a good job at narrating but her voice is a little too young for my taste. I usually like older people narrating books. I thought I would get used to it but I guess I didn't other than that the book was a fun listen. I also think it's cool that the lady who wrote Pretty Little Liars wrote this series.

Chapters are off

I loved the book but one thing that caught my attention was the fact the reader was saying chapter 26 when it was chapter 27 in some places.

A good read

This is one of the first audio books that I actually enjoyed listening too. Cassandra Morris brings the story to life with using characters in her voice. The story has a good build to it, there is always something to look forward to and it gives a story line that keeps you engaged and wanting to hear the next part. This is not the same as the tv series, there is a lot of differences but still a great audio.

Thrilling and interesting!

Starts out very confusing but the more you read the more clarity you have. Keeps you on your toes.

There’s Nothing Here That Makes Me Want to Continue

This is a reread for me. I read the book when it first came out because I was obsessed with the Pretty Little Liars series. I can see why the past me didn’t stick with the series.

It just wasn’t holding my interest. The setup itself is interesting: twin sister is dead so the long lost twin sister assumes the other’s identity to find answers. The execution just fell flat.

There were some interesting parts like the game the girls play. I liked that the dead sister narrates the story and at the same time recovering some of her memories of her death.

I think what didn’t work was Emma. She just isn’t an interesting character to follow which is annoying because she is the one trying to figure out her sister’s death.

I might read the next book but seeing that it’s a six book series doesn’t bode well. And this doesn’t even end in a cliffhanger, so it’s not even trying to get you interested in the next installment smh

Eh, it was so-so

This book was just so-so. But with me being as compulsive as I am, I had a hard time not finishing the book. I was disappointed by the ending, or the lack there-of. The story-line was a little juvenille. I hate to say it though I will most likely have to read the next book just to see if it goes anywhere....if there is a next one.

I just don't understand

I wanted so bad to like this book. I love Pretty Little Liars. But I cant for the life of me figure out: #1 Why they chose to have what sounds like a 9 year old little girl read this book. I mean the girl is what I'm guessing like 17 so why are they portraying her like a little girl, its extremely disturbing. #2 This story is hard to follow. The dead girl Stanton is narrating the story and she supposedly cant remember anything as Emma walks into her life. But yet she tells you all these things about her boyfriend and friends. I just cant follow it, its getting on my nerves.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Her voice was grating and distracting - couldn't get into the story. Not that it was easy to track, anyway.
