Publisher's Summary

The Lux series continues with the third installment of this riveting paranormal YA series.

No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for Katy, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something she'll do again and now that they've made it through the rough patches, well, there's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on. But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they loved. With help coming from the most unlikely source and Adam's death still lingering with those who loved him, friends will become the deadliest of enemies and the villains will no longer be clear. When each step they take in discovering the truth puts them in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more Katy realizes there is no end to what she's capable of. They won't turn back, even if the outcome will shatter their worlds forever.

Critic Reviews

"Armentrout keeps the momentum rolling with her third Lux entry. [Fans] will be enthralled from beginning to end. Katy and Dameon's heat sparks as the intrigue increases, too. Friends and enemies take sides, and the ending will leave [fans] yelling." (RT Book Reviews)

Great entertainment!

Any additional comments?

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, it's full of intense intrigue. The tension builds and at times I found myself holding my breath! The ending was such a cliffhanger, I went right into the next book of the series!

Great book, BUT....Demon?! What??

I've read the whole series and LOVE it, so I was so excited when I found this on audible. I decided to start with Opal, and am I the only one surprised that his name is pronounced Demon??!! I always assumed that since it's spelled Daemon, that it was pronounced Damon. I don't like that his name is Demon!!! That has bad connotations! Not like the hero at all! I absolutely hate that his name is Demon on audio! I won't listen to the rest of them because to me he's NOT a Demon!!! Just ruined it for me. What a horrible name for such a charming, funny, all around great guy. I will stick to the books.

A filler novel

This part of the series clearly only serves the purpose of setting up what should hopefully be a big next part of the series. Let's hope Book 4 holds up to the promise of Book 2!

Dragging a bit

I think they are dragging out the story a bit. I don't think this needed to be separated.

Very good addition to the series :)

4 stars

This was a very good addition to the series. I was pleased with both Daemon and Katy. Katy has gotten past her TSTL issues in the previous book and I'm liking her better again. Daemon has continued to improve and is a great hero now. Together, they do pretty well at their relationship even if they keep getting interrupted when they're trying to get more intimate.

The action plot is interesting and fast moving. It seems there's always something going on and there's a lot of suspense because it's hard to know who to trust and what motivations are making people act the way they do. The big push in this story is Dawson (who ended up being alive in the previous book) being desperate to save Bethany from the DoD. Because of Dawson and some other influences, the Luxen and Katy are forced to move against the DoD. They have some success but the story ends in a big cliffhanger (with Katy in terrible danger) so we'll have to wait to see how things work out.

I enjoyed this story very much. I was pleased with Katy and Daemon and how their relationship is progressing. I know this is a YA book but I'm glad that both Daemon and Katy have gained some maturity (although I've seen grown MCs acting just as bad in other books so I guess I can't complain too much). The story was well written with a plot that was interesting, suspenseful and kept me engaged through to the end. I'd recommend this story and I'm looking forward to seeing how it continues in the next book.

The ending is brutal

Finally Daemon and Katie get together. Their problems with DOD and Blake have only started. The ending is brutal no many times you read or hear it.

I love Daemon & Katy. Lots of action going down in this book! Something is constantly going on & you can't hardly put it down. I didn't think I'd be into this but clearly.....on to book 4!

Love the story, dislike the narration

What made the experience of listening to Opal the most enjoyable?

I knew there would be a cliffhanger, but since the series is out, I also knew I didn't have to wait for the next one.

What other book might you compare Opal to and why?

Onyx

How could the performance have been better?

I would be happier if I didn't feel like the narrator was trying to speak to me in hushed tones all the time
