Publisher's summary

Billionaire. CEO. Single dad. And, apparently, my date to Manhattan's most exclusive ball.

I thought my invitation was a birthday present from my best friend. The dress, the limousine, the red carpet . . . I thought they were meant for me. That was mistake number one.

Then my date arrives, all gleaming cufflinks and tousled hair, steely blue eyes, and a body honed to masculine precision. Arrogant. Charming. Panty-melting. And melt, they do. Hanky-panky with a rich hottie in the back room of the event I'm crashing? Don't mind if I do.

Listen, don't judge me. It's my birthday, remember? Nothing that happens tonight counts in real life. Ha. Right. That's mistake number two.

Because the next morning, I start my new job as the nanny for a high-profile client. And my new boss, the owner of this swanky Manhattan penthouse, and the father of these two adorable hellions? Yup. Mr. Hanky-Panky.

But the biggest mistake of all? Staying with him. Working for him. Letting my guard down, falling for him . . . And crashing. Splat. Oh—then I find out I'm pregnant.

Contains mature themes.

Beautiful story and the beginning and end just make you want more and more. They talked and had issues just like in real life and I loved it

Just a good old love story

I would like to say that I really didn’t like the beginning of this and I almost returned it because the first 35 minutes turned me off on the book completely but I helped through. And I’m happy I did what an amazing book definitely will be on my top shelf for a while it didn’t just have a love story but it also had forgiveness, understanding, an acceptance I truly wish this was a longer book and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store. The narration was a little choppy at first but it got better after an hour in.

I would highly recommend this book to anybody who is looking for a slow burn but also looking for something that is not as slow as a slow burn it definitely has Depp and has a great ending also

Worth the one credit

The storyline was enjoyable and kept moving. Good characters. But the two female narrator over did her part and when she did make narration was awful. The male narrator was just ok.

Sweet story

The story is sweet and does have some steam. I liked the plot and the side stories. The characters were strong and it made for a good story. The female narrator was just ok. When she did the actual dialogue she over-enunciated and it sounded like she was trying to do an accent. But the rest of the time she did a good job. The male narrator did a fine job.

No redeeming qualities: bad writing, dreadful male narrator

There is something super off-putting about the male narrator’s voice, and it was distracting and hard to focus on the story. The story itself had potential, but was written into the ground. This could have been a concisely written 3-hour novel, but instead it’s drags on and on. The female narrator was annoying in that everything she read in her male voice was a stern command, even if it was not necessarily written to be delivered that way. Lilian Monroe is not an author I’d ever try again after this book. The several duplicate scenes of them sitting on the couch saying “we can’t, we shouldn’t” and then continuing to make out is so tiresome and boring. It shows a complete lack of planning or thinking on the author’s part. Also, “So many lines are being crossed” is said by the characters over and over again, when it’s just the one line: screwing the nanny. And it’s not an original trope. It’s a book that seems to have been written by someone who woke up and decided to write romance novels because they think they have a better understanding of romance than other people and not because of any skill or education in writing. Her characters were under developed, most of the dialogue happened inside their heads and not with each other and the lack of communication was annoying and immature. The author created a lot of drama out of basically nothing, her female character is a complete idiot and makes the worst choice that railroads the whole narrative. The conflict is contrived, and I think “within an inch of its life” was used about 6 times in the 10-hour audiobook. I could have played romance novel bingo with the number of overused phrases in this book: “closed the distance between us” and “I need her more than air.” Also, there are instances where he basically waves a wand over her and she has an orgasm. This book was garbage.

Narration made it almost a DNF

The narrators were horrible. The story had repetitive parts. I had to force myself to finish.

horrible narrators. Emil's voice made me cringe.

lame story line...too shallow. Could have added a little more suspense especially with Richard.
