Publisher's Summary

Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything....

More than I had expected

Where does Beautiful Creatures rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I haven't listened to an audiobook in years, but the music and sound effects were amazing, and added depth to the story!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lena. She is an outcast, but find friendship anyway. She is special, and different, and just so relatable, even though I don't have special powers.

Which character – as performed by Kevin T. Collins – was your favorite?

Macon. He did an excellent job of helping me picture the character. I loved when he would come into the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole thing. I was drawn in the whole time. But when he realized his mom was helping him, that was awesome!

Great story , Rough ending

The story is fantastic, though it does seem to get a little rushed and confusing in the end.

I found it a bit annoying that three quarters or more of the story was from a single characters point of view and then suddenly the authors throw us into a different characters head. The transition definitely was a bit rough at that point. Then just as you start to acclimate to being in a different characters POV, they throw back into the original characters POV.

I loved the narrator, his pace and accent was definitely a ten. I only rated it so low in performance because I really didn't much care for all the sound effects and music. I found the added effects, as well as the switch in narrators there near the end quite jarring.

Amazing Audible

I had read the paper book first and then decided to listen to the book. This audible is my favorite to listen to by far! The voices are clearly distinct, and the addition of actual sound effects and music really makes it!

Review

I really lived the connections between Lena and Ethan. But I'm upset that Melchizedek (Macon) had died. Overall I loved it.

I enjoyed listening to this book.

Narrator transitions well, love the extra ambient noises. I purchased this because I enjoyed the movie and wanted to read the entire series. I am not disappointed at all, I loved to listen.

Teenage Agnst Mixed with Majic

I loved the narrators voice so smooth and southern, even when voicing a different character. I could listen to him all day. I loved how the story unfolded just a bit at a time keeping me guessing. I felt like I really was in a small southern town.
