Publisher's summary

In this Audible Original prequel to Ally Carter's New York Times best-selling Gallagher Girls series, narrator Rebecca Soler brings her charm, enthusiasm, and impeccable accent work to the world of teen spies and boarding school drama, making for a perfect introduction to the series—or a new favorite for long-time listeners.

The first day at a new school is tough for any kid, but it's especially scary when you're going to a school for spies. Cammie Morgan has spent her whole life dreaming of becoming a Gallagher Girl, but she has no idea what she’ll face when she arrives at The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. Secret passages? Check. Lab experiments that might make you lose your eyebrows (and other body parts)? Check. Classmates who are the smartest, strongest, most intimidating girls in the world? Double check.

Cammie might be a Gallagher legacy, but she's about to learn that the most intimidating part about the Gallagher Academy are the Gallagher Girls themselves. Soon Cammie and her clumsy-but-genius roommate Liz, and the glamorous Bex have to learn the most important lesson of the seventh grade: getting into spy school is hard. Surviving spy school is harder.

A fun listen

I'm a senior citizen but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The reader is one of the best I've ever heard (and I've been listening to audio books since they were on tapes! ;) . She infuses the story with emotion, does the accents, reads it naturally without pauses in the wrong place.

I never read/heard the Gallagher Girls books but might try one after this. It was a real pleasure.

Stupid and Unbelieveable

We have an 1860's feminist 18-year-old girl who SAYS she wants to please her traditional mother, and who then promptly saves Abraham Lincoln from an assassin. Then she talks about what she learned in middle school -- something that wouldn't exist for another 100 years ... who talks like a Valley Girl ... I gave up after 15 minutes.

Highly Recommend

I cannot recommend this audiobook highly enough! It is ideal for anyone who has or hasn't read the Gallagher Girls series. Rebecca Soler is a fantastic reader and I love how she made each character distinct and really alive.
Within the first three minutes I knew I was hooked and I've already started my second listen thru.

Unique idea, cliche execution

I was into this book at first, but stopped after chapter 6. It uses every kid story cliche there is, and jokes parents think kids like but have seen on every episode of a Disney channel show. Like a bumbling science teacher accidentally blowing things up and smoke coming through the door.

Feels like Harry Potter meets spy kids, but a lot of the character conversations don't feel genuine. That mixed with the cliches made me stop midway through chapter 6.

Now I have to buy the series.

I think I'm going to love this series. this free prequel has me itching for more.
Very cute, very fun. It does seem like it will be like Harry Potter. It shows good morals, behaviors camaraderie and friendships. I think my kids will like this book too.

Hogwarts for Spies

So, you have a genius non-legacy (muggle?) girl who doesn't quite fit in; a legacy who isn't sure of herself; and a super-spy to be in a school with hidden passages and the group needing to support each other to make it through. Felt like I was listening to a Harry Potter rip-off from the second chapter on. And, definitely, not as well written.

Great read for adults and young girls!

Wonderful story. Great balance between the main story line and the inner thoughts and feelings of a 12 year old girl. Nancy Drew of the 21st century. Enjoyable read for all ages.

Fantastic! Five Stars for An Amazing Performance.

The Spies That Bind was everything I could have hoped for as a prequel to my favorite series. I absolutely loved every single moment of it. The most memorable part for me was when Cammie found her first secret passageway. Rebecca Soler is amazing as the voice of Cammie Morgan.

Tween book

This would be a good book for a 10-12 year old girl. Not sure why it was advertised in the adult section. Silly simple book
