Publisher's summary

They say you don't get to choose your family; for Ashton Firebrand, the adopted son of a dragon, this is particularly true. Still, he finds a way to make it work.

When Ashton learns of an assassination plot targeting his dragon father, he launches an investigation that reveals a lot more than he bargained for - including some interesting details about his own origins.

One detail is the nature of his relationship with a magical barmaid named Abigail, who is promptly kidnapped by nefarious aurators, or mage hunters. Now, Ashton must travel to another continent to confront the aurators and save Abigail before their evil plan comes to fruition.

Along the way, Ashton meets a witch, a half-elf sorcerer, an animated teddy bear, and other magical figures who agree to help him take down the aurators. Filled with humor and intrigue, Ash to Ashes is an enchanting adventure that explores the meaning of family in a very unfamiliar locale.

Well Executed Fantasy

This is a pretty typical fantasy novel which is not really a bad thing, it has some interesting ideas and some of the actions do come as a surprise but most people should be able to guess what will happen long before the ending.

The audio book in particular is fairly well narrated with distinguishing voices and well done production the narration fits the tone of the story well.

This is not a revolutionary novel, but is well executed and surprinslgy engaging.

Great story

A fun and interesting story. Narrator did well but some of the female voices was rough to listen to. The real gripe I have is that the MC was to much of a white knight type. But that is just my opinion you never leave a enemy alive behind you.

Great narration, average story

I have just finished this title and I am left with somewhat mixed feeling.
Story: the initial exposition was quite good - I liked the characters, their abilities and the background - it appeared as something quite new for me. However, when story continued to develop into the main action it became a bit monotonous and predictable. It lacked some dramatic action and plot twists. Probably it will fit better for a pre-teen. I know that it is a young adult book - but there are YA that appeal to all ages as well. I am not sure I will be go after the sequel unless it will become more serious and less predictable.

Narration: I must say Jack Voraces really nailed it. There were few moments or characters were it felt slightly unnatural or overacted but it did not affect the overall impression. The narration has kept me listening to the book and I look forward for other title by Jack.

Glad I stuck with it

Surprisingly well written, excellent narration. Mild issues with the audio quality at one point, but it went away.
