Publisher's summary

What's it like to be the last Human?

And not even know you're Human?

Esna Donovan was stranded on a planet full of people that didn't look like her as a child along with her brother. Their father was murdered, leaving them sitting in their spaceship waiting for his return.

They remember almost nothing from before that time, when two Calavari who were business associates of their father took them in and told them they could never be seen outside their full body armor. They've honored their father's dying wish, living and working on the Calavari's farm while exploring the barren wastelands looking for bits of technological salvage from the time before the great cataclysm.

They don't know they're Human, just that they're different and they can't show their skin in pubic. The two siblings have lived almost their entire lives in their self-styled body armor and dream of leaving the farm and doing something that mattered...but there's nowhere to go. Nothing to do.

Then one day that all changes and Esna is set forth on a rollercoaster ride of a life she could never have expected when the word "Human" is once again spoken on the planet...only it's a word of rage and ear, with the local aliens trying to kill whoever it is applied to, though they've never seen one before.

Regardless, the word is tagged to her and she must run...with a little help.

It exceed my expectations

Instead of following the cookie cutter mold, Lost Destiny breaks away from the norm. The many different species introduced is refreshing, although there was a bit of Vegan propaganda I will admit made me laugh. there is also some pulling on your heart string to go with the brevity, I will look forward to hearing the other two books I hope Kristin James does those too, I don't think I could disassociate her voice from that world.
Now I also have to mention I received this copy in exchange for an unbiased review, and that is what you have.

It was fun

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author." Through AudiobookBoom

The story was interesting and I had fun listening to it, the only major problem I found was with the narrators handling of all those questions Esna had one after another after another, they sounded very similarly and it got on my nerves. But that just might be me.

Great start of a new sci fi series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Although a little...preachy and dry... this is a great sci fi book. It's definitely the first book in a series, what with all the world building going on. The narrator is great too and helps bring the book to life. Looking forward to book 2

Imagine Luke Skywalker stranded with Old Ben...

While not bad, the content of the book was pretty dry. Imagine a movie where Luke skywalker (before having any control of the force) and old Ben were stranded for an entire movie on a planet. And most of the story was just them avoiding detection. I waited and waited for the story to sort of take off. But it really didn't' do that until the last 20 minutes.

Lots and lots of preaching against the eating of animals. and other preferential issues. Trying to make them ethical instead of just individual choices.

The narrator, Kristin James did an EXCELLENT job with the content. Her reading and inflection was wonderful. Her voices were well done and differentiated and captured the characters well. Without her work I would have never finished it.

Review “Star Force: Lost Destiny: Wayward Bk 1

This was a great book by Aer-ki Jyr. I liked the underlying teaching that was being given to the heroine by her rescuers. There was intrigue and action that kept the pace active and interesting. The performance by Kristin James gives us the feeling of each character and enjoyable to listen too, wonderful as always. I look forward to listening to the next in the series. I received this book in exchange for my review, and if you are wondering, “ yes I would purchase it, it’s that good”.

The narrator was awesome. The story was a bit slow moving, but wonderful to finish.

Loved this audio! Very well written, I could easily picture the world and the characters are amazing. Loved the story and the narrator did an excellent job of bringing this book to life. Highly recommend this book, if you are looking for a well developed world and great story. I’m definitely going to be listening to the other books in the series. Great start to a series

Definitley worth your time and credit!

Great start to a series. I was really looking forward to this book and was not disappointed at all. It's a very enjoyable, engaging and entertaining story with fantastic narration. It's a really good solid story with an interesting cast of characters. It pulled me in from the start and never let go. This is one of those books that I couldn't wait to get back to any time I had to stop listening. Before the story was even over I was looking to see if the next book in the series was available on Audible.

Interesting, original and unusual scenario. What happens when you are human and living on a planet where humans are despised. Worse you don't even know you are human. What happens when you are discovered?

I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.

Kristen James did a fantastic job with the narration. Her narration pulled me right into the story. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Both male and female. She was able to convey the emotions of the characters. She was able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Hopefully she will be narrating the rest of the series. Very enjoyable

Space vegetarians take on the galaxy

Ok, I will admit that this book is entertaining. It starts off with an interesting premise and did the "nearly unbillable monster hunting you" thing better than a lot of other books have managed. And the second half of the book was solid too. But it dose have its flaws, which I will be a bit vague about if you don't mind as not to spoil anything. Some events happen a bit too soon to get as much of a payoff as I think could have been achieved if simply pushed further for a few chapters. Also Star Force itself in this book I'm guessing is supposed to be a great and noble good guy space force lead by humans......humans that are militantly vegetarian, only work because they enjoy it and are mostly not paid for any work they do, and apparently are now immortal due to diet and exercise........I know there is a level of suspension of disbelief in Sci-Fi but this really pushed it for me and came off as super preachy. Maybe I'm just jaded seeing as how I didn't even lift a brow at hulking four armed aliens, but utopian immortal vegetarian humans was what made me start questioning things. Aside from that though I did enjoy the book. Not sure ill get the second book, but maybe if its on discount.

I got this book in return for a fair and honest review.
