Good start til the series

Story line is pretty well developed. The book itself is a quick listen & if you listen more than once you'll pick up new things. Characters come together very well.

Great for passing the time

The author did a great job of setting up the story and characters. The only issue I had was the length of the book. Certain spots could’ve had some more content to add to the plot and help round it out. The narrator did a great job telling the story as well. This is a great book to pick up especially if you have an itch for a crime novel.

Good story!

I really enjoyed the character and storyline. Iris is funny. Parker is strong. Kay annoyed me at first but grew on me! The "bod guys" were surprising. At least one was. I recommend this enjoyable mystery!

Good short read

I really enjoyed the story but the dialogue felt very stilted. The conversations felt very formal and not natural for conversation. The story is short so things move quickly without much detail or explanation. I had to go back and re-listen on a few parts because it felt like I had missed a key detail. I thought the ending was fairly predictable. I was disappointed how the situation with Parker’s police friend played out. It made Parker seem oblivious and not very intelligent, which is not what I think the author intended. Aside from that I really like the story and am continuing this series. I think there is a lot of potential.

Enjoyable

Not a very long book so I was able to listen to it fairly quickly. The story is delightful. I do enjoy detective books so this was right up my alley. The narrator does a good job with different character voices. The only thing is that it’s too short! I think the author could have gone deeper. I’m moving on to the next one in the series which will hopefully develop the characters more. Overall a pleasant listen.

Short fun story

A stolen treasure map, murder, private island. Throw in some fun characters. you have a great entertaining listen. all are out to find the stolen treasure map, and the adventure and mystery begins! It's a short story that would keep you interested. The narration by Kris Szczesny is a great listen. She brings excitement and fun to the story, giving each character their own voice. 🎧Audiobookobessionreview🎧

A great read!

When Parker gets a new case she also gets a new assistant her name is K she is the granddaughter of the man who’s map was stolen and who paid Parker to find it. After a crazy night on an island and a few comfortable moments together parker be also sell falling for K and luckily for Parker Kay feels the same way.

I downloaded this book a while back and I don’t know how but I forgot about it. When I found it today I started listening and was so pleased. It was so good I can’t wait to listen to the next one. This is a great representation of the genre and of investigators everywhere. I recommend this to anyone who likes private investigation stories and romance because they have both. It’s a fun lovable wonderful read!

Good Start

This is my first time listen/reading anything by Nicole Hogue. This was a short story and it was quirky an easy quick story. The characters are cute. The first story has Kay and her grandfather reaching out to Parker for help. Parker once was a detective but is now on a mission to find the item stolen. The two women finally find a common ground while dodging harm and finding themselves and each other.

This was a great start to this detective series!

Interesting.

Parker takes a case for Kent to find a treasure map that was stolen. The case includes his grand-daughter Kay, who wants to be a part of every step.

There are lots of twists and turns in the story.

Kris Szczesny does a good job with the different characters!

Sentiment to the heart

This is a quick listen with two main female character. Be warned this is an LGBT which from the blurb you would have not known. I was surprised when I started to listen to it. However, only kissing is refered.
I will not go on to read/listen to the next book because this is not my type of thing.
I found the narrator to be a lot better in narrating this book then one other book I have listened too.

Quick, light listen

This was a very short mystery story where a lot of the writing was in short, not-too-descriptive sentences. I actually slowed the listening speed down to see if it sounded more natural at a slower speed. This would be good choice for someone who doesn't like a lot of embellishment. For example, instead of describing what the character was feeling, the author would just say something like "it made her sad that this happened". The two main characters happened to both be female, but there was only a brief reference to a kiss or two (PG rated on an intensity scale).

The performer did make the characters have different voices which I appreciated.

Avery Detective Agency, book 1. Totally worth it!

When Kay Walker's grandfather loses a treasure, they hire Parker, a detective, to help her locate the person that stole it.
Parker is a former officer, who started her own detective business to help people out with their problems. She is a strong person who wants to continue till she has all the answers.
In this book she travels to a deserted island with Kay to find the person who stole the map (to find the treasure).
They find a path on the island, and follow the trails. Kay and Parker and complete opposites but decide to stick together to complete the case.
Parker and Kay slowly fall in love with each other and try to unravel the secrets behind their case.
Bit by bit they realise the shocking truth.
Nicole did a really good job in writing this book. It is a sweet story with twists and turns. Once you started this audiobook, you want to keep listening and find out what really happens to the map and who stole it.
I recommend this audiobook and would advice you to listen to book 2 and 3 of this series. I really hope Nicole would write book 4 and so on because I miss listening to this series.

Quick and fun listen!

Novellas can be too short and underdeveloped, but Nicole Higginbotham-Hogue nails it with this short mystery. A cross between a cozy and a romantic suspense, it has great characters, a hint of humor and a mystery to solve! Kay is trying to find something her grandfather has hidden and hires Kay's agency to help her. These two butt heads, have witty banter and find they have feelings for each other. But will they solve the case? It's hard to determine who to trust, but it is a fun ride! Enjoy this story narrated by Kris Szczesny.
