Good clean mystery
This book was a little hard to get into at the beginning but developed into a good read. The best part is there is no profanity or bad language of any kind. Isn't is amazing that there are still authors that can tell a great story without filling it with offensive situations and bad language. Thank you Mindy Starns Clark.

Unexpectedly good
I enjoyed the storyline - even though I often got annoyed with the main character's "quick to judge/dismiss" personality. Yes, there is a religious element to the story, but I didn't feel like it was extremely overt or off-putting.
What I couldn't stand was the narrator at first. Towards the end, the accents began to come through, but for a story of New Orleans, Creole and Cajuns, I want some GREAT accents.

Good Book
I have enjoyed all of Mindy Starns Clark's books. This one was no exception. History, romance, treasure, and a good mystery topped off with a terriffic setting, what's not to like. Ms. Clark writes in a way that generally keeps me second guessing all the characters motives until the end. Although I had an idea of "who dunnit" fairly early in the book, I kept second guessing myself until the culprit was revealed.

annoying heroine, overt religious agenda
Nowhere in the reviews that I read was it mentioned that this is a Christian novel. I don't mind having some religion in a book, but I really don't like being preached at. The heroine was silly and credulous, the hero over the top, and I'm regretting the money I spent on this one.

No religion mentioned in description
The back and forth of 18th century France and present day New Orleans was off putting at first, but I got used to it. I didn't appreciate the religious instruction and God answering prayer as part of the story.

Worst book ever
This person has no talent for writing and the reader has no talent for reading. This book wouldn't have been worth a nickel at a yard sale let alone a paperback sale. I am extremely sorry that I wasted $5.95 on it. I only gave it one star so that I could make this statement.

Pathetic
The author has single-handedly created the stupidest, most credulous heroine ever, while insulting the reader/listener's intelligence throughout. Chloe is unbelievably dim, freely telling just about everyone she meets (including, of course, the killer) what all the clues to the treasure are, and exactly what they mean. This is despite the fact that her father's last message was that the treasure issue is what got him shot, and that they shouldn't trust anyone.
She's also extremely whiny, with serious mommy and daddy issues - "poor me, poor me my parents didn't pay enough attention to me" is a recurring theme we re-visit about every 10 minutes or so. Don't waste your time or money.

Great plot Twists!
Delightful story with great plot twists. Found myself totally surprised as things were revealed. Beautiful vivid descriptions of the Bayou. Good character development, not cookie cutter at all. The faith Element, though, was sort of thrown in- not really a Christian focused book- more a mystery with not profanity or inappropriate stuff and some God on top.

super, awesome, amazing
I LOVE this author! my second book! although, both about Cajuns, so now I desperately want to move to Louisiana and find a " Cajun Boy" of my own. So much family connection and history. ( I am alot like the chic in the story). No connection in my family
