We often treat the word capacity as if it were a natural law of limitation. Unfortunately most of us are much more comfortable defining what we perceive as off limits rather than what's really possible. Could it be that many of us have failed to expand our potential because we have allowed what we perceive as capacity to define us? What if our limits are not really our limits?
"Teamwork is always at the heart of great achievement," says New York Times best-selling author John C. Maxwell. "The question isn't whether teams add value. The question is whether we will acknowledge that fact and work to become better team players." You have a good idea but can't convince your peers of its merit. You crafted a groundbreaking strategy, but the teamtrudges on in the same old way. Certain people move forward in their career while you seem to be stuck. If this describes you or someone you know, the problem is not the quality of what you have to offer. The problem is how you connect with people to create the results you desire. Here, John Maxwell takes listeners through the Five Connecting Principles and the Five Connecting Practices of top-notch achievers.
In his nearly thirty years of teaching leadership, John Maxwell has encountered this question again and again: How do I apply leadership principles if I'm not the boss? It's a valid question that Maxwell answers in The 360-Degree Leader. You don't have to be the main leader, asserts Maxwell, to make significant impact in your organization. Good leaders are not only capable of leading their followers but are also adept at leading their superiors and their peers.
True leadership isn't a matter of having a certain job or title. In fact, being chosen for a position is only the first of the five levels every effective leader achieves. To become more than "the boss" people follow only because they are required to, you have to master the ability to invest in people and inspire them. To grow further in your role, you must achieve results and build a team that produces. You need to help people to develop their skills to become leaders in their own right. And if you have the skill and dedication, you can reach the pinnacle of leadership....
John C. Maxwell delves into the process of becoming a successful leader by examining how questions can be used to advantage. What are the questions leaders should ask themselves? What questions should they ask members of their team? He then responds to the toughest problems leaders have presented to him. Using social media, Maxwell offered the floor to followers with unanswered questions about what it takes to achieve their professional best, and selected seventy questions on the most popular topics.
Are there tried and true principles that are always certain to help a person grow? John Maxwell says the answer is yes. Everything one needs to know on how to behave & be on a team. This is a manual for being a team player.
This was a great book to read not just for leadership. It was a recommended read from my Pastor for leaders in the Care Ministry. We are going to build a strong team. My hope is that all leaders will take the opportunity to read this book and apply it as needed.
This was my first Audible book and I loved it! I truly love the flexibilty.
I have gained a tremendous amount of understanding of what is needed of me as a better team mate & Team Builder.
I own both the hard copy book and the audio as sometimes it is easier to find the time to listen rather than read. I purchased it after a bad experience at work, and found the information put the situation into perspective for me. I was able to deal with the situation that allowed me to feel empowered, an not allow others to dictate expectation. This is something everyone regardless of a work/corporate/social/sports environment should read.
