Story
Love might not be what we think it is. We all seek the happiness that comes from loving and being loved, yet we often find ourselves dissatisfied in our relationships and unable to grasp the cause. Thich Nhat Hanh here shows the way to overcome our recurrent obstacles to love - by learning to be mindful, open, and present with ourselves and others. As he explains, "training is needed in order to love properly; and to be able to give happiness and joy, you must practice deep looking directed toward the person you love."

Power is one of the central issues in our lives. From work to personal relationships, the struggle for power plays a pivotal role and, more often than not, prevents us from attaining freedom and happiness. The bottom-line mentality in our culture seeps unnoticed into every other part of our lives. Thich Nhat Hanh illustrates how our current understanding of power leads us on a never-ending search for external markers like job title or salary.

Story
The teachings of Buddhism describe two realities: the "historical dimension" of time, space, and form, and the "ultimate dimension": an infinite realm beyond birth and death, the realm of complete freedom, peace, and joy, the ground of being called "nirvana". On The Ultimate Dimension, you are invited to sit beside Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh for an advanced dharma retreat that opens the doorway to this sublime experience of being.

Story
The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

Hearing is better than reading
it really adds a lot to hear him speak in his own voice instead of just reading the material.

If you're ready to hear it, to open
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Thich Nhat Hanh presents a depth of truth so simply, so accurately, so profoundly that it's really easy to miss it unless you truely listen hard, and then again, and then again. It's a bottomless well of wisdom. Told by one of the wisest, most loving, most gentle and loving souls living today.

Absolutely Spot On
Another great teaching by a phenomenal Zen Master. He uses humour, past and present life experiences, people from all walks of life and countries share a powerful and practical message on a topic the I believe many in this world have completely confused its true meaning. Thank you Thich Nhat Hanh once again.

Thich does it again!
Listening to Thich is just as impactful as reading his words. I've been wanting to get around to reading more of his material, and audible has allowed me to access more of his material. I love his messages of listening compassionately, and while I am still fairly new to his teachings, it's always great to come back and listen.

His words and voice were very healing.
I recommend deeply listening to this alone at home with a box of tissues ready.
I felt a sense of release throughout this experience and loved the bell sound transitions. Life changing to say the least. It brought be a sense of peace but was grounding. It’s the type of book you’ll definitely feel a need to revisit from time to time. Thank you Thich Nhat Nanh 🙏🏻

The Master
Would you consider the audio edition of Teachings on Love to be better than the print version?
The Master is incredible. It would have been even better if the recording had been remastered to edit out the coughing in the audience, which at times became distracting.
