A worthwhile listen for new parents

What did you like best about Simplicity Parenting? What did you like least?

I never realized that by providing my child with too much stuff; too many toys, books, options, that I might be creating a monster. The author's emphasis on reducing clutter, noise and getting rid of toys that offer little imaginative use is something that is invaluable information for any age child. That being said, the information does get a little redundant after awhile.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator has a horrible monotonous voice was absolutely no affect or depth. His reading is completely flat and makes even compelling information a downer!

Excellent content but who is narrating this book?

I know the content is excellent but it sounds like a robot. It would be great if this book were narrated by someone else.

I recommend this to EVERY parent

Payne and Ross have created a thorough and well researched guideline for a stronger family life and happier kids. I wish I had read this book when my daughter was younger, but have started the simplicity steps they recommend and have already seen a big difference. It is so easy to overlook the small steps that P&R outline, but when presented with such convincing evidence, initiating them becomes easy. For example, my 8 year-old daughter's closet was stuffed with clothing I wasn't willing to part with due to its label or association, but my daughter didn't wear. Once I cleared away those clothes and narrowed down her choices, dressing herself became much easier. Also, we have decided to eliminate extra-curricular sports that hi-jack our weekends--one year of Mother's AND Father's day sacrificed to the soccer-league is enough. There are many points that P&R have so clearly made about over-stimulating and hyper-scheduling our children that I am happily listening this one through a second time.

A MUST READ FOR ALL PARENTS IN AMERICA!

Where does Simplicity Parenting rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the top, Im listening to it again for motivation.

What did you like best about this story?

It is simple, everyone can do it. However with companies out there spending billions to get us to buy all the crap, it's nice to have a little book to keep our minds on the right track,

What about Arthur Morey’s performance did you like?

Easy to listen to. His "s" sounds were a little loud, but I was listening for the info and content not for the readers voice.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Getting rid of all the clutter and stuff, and the child will be happy about the "anti-Christmas". I tried it and it was VERY true!

Down to Earth advice for parents

It's a shame that we need this advice, but we do. We have gotten so far away from fostering connection, creativity and curiosity in bring up our children that I think this book should be required reading/listening for all parents. This book is a wonderful reminder to de-clutter our children's environments, activities, and schedules so that they can get on with- well, being children and all the natural growth that requires.

I found the book to be very, very insightful,- in fact I'm on my second listen. If you're a parent, get this book.

Good message but...

I learned some good things from this book. I’m all for simplicity myself, so there was little news in it for me, but the main issue was that it was toooo long for what it had to convey. So redundant and difficult and almost agonizing to listen to. Thank goodness I wasn’t reading it, otherwise I would’ve never finished this book!

Wish I had this before I had children.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

My husband and I take care of my elderly, cancer sick, parents along with my 4 kids. This would work with any relationship. I can see it dramatically changing my relationships with everyone I know. I am recommending it to everyone especially those who are newly married. I couldn't stop listening to it. It made so much sense and its very practical. I feel like I have received a huge blessing in my life when I came across this. It had all the answers I needed to face the very real challenges in my day to day circumstances. It gave me permission to focus on the relationships I value and cut out the fat in my life that produces no fruit. I cannot wait to apply the principles that I believed I knew deep down all along. This put things into perspective a real vision of peace within a home even under extenuating circumstances like mine and its message is universal and transcends any families personal believe structures.

Slow, could easily be condensed, but good message

What did you love best about Simplicity Parenting?

I love the message of this book, however, the author could have easily condensed it into a shorter book.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The author did a good job at providing real world examples to illustrate his concepts.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I would sometimes lose focus and found it to be somewhat drawn out.
