Publisher's summary

I am fire. I am destruction. I will be their nightmare.

The veil fell. Demons are here. Muse knows she can stop the slaughter, but to do so, she must return to the battle-scarred streets of Boston and face the cold, hard, truth. Her old life is ashes. Her love, turned to dust. But all is not lost; a spark of hope remains. A spark from which an inferno can blaze.

To stop the demons claiming Earth as their own, Muse must unite those capable of repairing the veil. The Dark Court, led by her Prince of Lust father, seek to recruit her to their cause. They want the veil destroyed for good; for chaos to reign for eternity. She will need to maneuver around their deadly intentions, and enlist the King of Hell's help, before it's too late.

For Muse to succeed, she must survive her father, save her soul, resurrect her love, forgive her enemies, and betray a trust. She must be everything she can be; demon and human. She must be their nightmare.

In this, the fifth and final Veil Series book, we return to where it all began. To the netherworld, where once a wretched half-blood girl surprised the Prince of Greed. To a world where hope is fantasy, and love, a disease.

Muse is ready to take the fight to the demons. Are you?

Intriguing series

I was intrigued by the story line and characters. The primary character is a bit winey but overall interesting. I enjoyed the interplay between her and the various characters. The idea that our world and hell are only a veil apart was intriguing. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories. Luckily all five are now available. I appreciated the wrap up of the series. Don't know if she is planning others or not but I'm happy with this ending. Hope reigns eternal.

Good But Not Great

Where does Ties That Bind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Given the limited number of audiobooks I've listened to so far, this one is definitely above average. But it is the weakest of the series.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

She's very good at voicing Muse's witty persona. Although, there were a few times when she made me cringe, as she voiced Dawn - she overdid it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a scene where Muse needs to use her Lust on Stefan, and drive him momentarily insane (and this is nowhere near as sexy as it sounds, believe me). That scene almost broke me.

Any additional comments?

As the final book in such a fantastic series, I expected better. Perhaps, I didn't feel some of the main emotional tugs because they were about Akil, and I don't really care about Akil.
All in all, the book was still satisfying (even if a bit repetitive, towards the end), and the series has earned a place in my small list of favourites.
Also, though she can be irritatingly emotional and unreasonable at times, Muse is a badass.

Looks like the final story of the Muse, but is it?

As with all of the other Muse Series books, I really enjoyed this one. Pippa didn't disappoint me. Muse and Stefan make such a cute couple, fighting the demons and trying to save the earth. There is still much more that can be written about them, that I would be surprised if this is the final book in the series. Pippa does such a great job with the characters, the story, the suspense, the thrill and the romance side of it. Hollie Jackson had her work cut out for her with this story. She did an excellent job. Love Pippa's creations.

Another Good Story in the Veil Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have refered this to several friends. This series is very different. Not your normal paranormal demon romance. The main character is strong. I didn't want the story to end.

What did you like best about this story?

Muse is strong throughout the Veil series. Her dad is a real monster. I am amazed Muse turned out as well as she did. This book ties up all of the loose ends....and leaves room for a 6th book in the series.

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

All of Hollie's narrations are good. She has a voice that is easy to listen to and her accents are done well.

Great way to end an awesome series

Muse is a great main character and surrounded by a fully developed deliciously diabolical supporting cast. Hope to see more Pippa DeCosta released on audible in the near future.u only suggestion to improve the next series of books would be to spice up the romance and add more sex scenes. Why make the main character an creature of lust and fire and not take full advantage of the +18 audience.

Awesome!!!

I found this series through Facebook ads. I can honestly say that I loved this whole series and will most likely listen again. Pippa wrote a beautiful story that made me feel a variety of emotions. The narrator did an amazing job bringing all of the characters to life.

Love it. The whole series from book 1 to 5 was great. I'm so glad Muse and Stefan got to be together.

History repeats?

I hope it does. This was a great addition to the series, but the ending seemed too happy, too final. I'm looking forward to where the story goes next.

Please don't let it end!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd recommend this book because as a finale to a series - there is nothing better!

What other book might you compare Ties That Bind to and why?

I'd compare this to Kim Harrison's "The Witch With No Name". I believe these are comparable because each is amazingly well written, both provide appropriate resolution to the conflicts and both also compelled extreme reactions - fear, joy, pain, sadness - a loss of control.

Which character – as performed by Hollie Jackson – was your favorite?

While I enjoyed all of the characters she portrayed, Ryder was my favorite. "His" drawl, the tones - everything was rich, consistent and, even knowing Ms. Jackson was a woman - didn't make a difference. For me, she became Ryder and there was more than one smile, sigh, wince - caused not only by the story itself, but also by the reality portrayed by Ms. Jackson's performance!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Okay - honestly, this was a ROUGH book for me. I reached the last two chapters on the train. When I reached the car at the station, I paused, started the car, and restarted the story. By the time I reached the house - OMG! The veil was closing with Muse and Stefan on one side and Akil on the other. I knew from the previous book and Akil's soliloquy that something - something unselfish and heartbreakingly sad - was about to happen. I was there sitting in front of my house with fat tears streaming down my cheek! If I could have reached through the closing veil to pull him through myself - I would have done so! I found myself actual speaking his name....so sad!

Any additional comments?

I'm conflicted now - I'm ECSTATIC I found this series, it's amazing. I'm EXTREMELY saddened that it's now ended. I was happy there were so many in the series available, but maybe that was detrimental because now it's over and I've within the space of a week - I've both gained and lost so much! I'll be looking for more of Ms. DaCosta's book and more narrated by Ms. Jackson! Well done, ladies - well done!
