Publisher's Summary

The women at Vows - a wedding planning company in Connecticut - make it their business to create memorable events for couples sealing their bonds. And though the bonds among Parker, Emma, Mac, and Laurel may not be official, they are very real - and equally worthy of celebration.

Mackensie Elliot's experience with her broken family has convinced her the only way to make happiness last is to take a picture of it. She does just that at Vows - where her photos, Laurel's cakes, Emma's flowers, and Parker's almost frightening organizational skills combine for a flourishing business. As a bonus, the four friends are able to live on the grounds of Parker's sprawling family estate, where the weddings and other events are staged. Sometimes it means dealing with drama - but even the worst mother-of-the-bridezilla can't compare to Mac's own manipulative mom. Every time Mac talks to her she winds up drained - and so does her bank account.

What helps distract her is slightly-geeky, slightly-klutzy, but oh-so-cute English teacher Carter Maguire. Mac's enjoying the vibe with him - and has no intention of ruining it by making the same mistake her mother makes again and again: getting married. But as the women of Vows band together to score a major client, and Mac nears the breaking point with her mother, she begins to wonder if it's time to come out from behind the camera, and put herself in the picture.

Narrator is great!

I put off buying this book many times because of what others said about the narrator, but I finally bit the bullet and got it. It was great! I didn't notice any kind of speech issue. The narrator is at least as good as others I've heard, and better than some. And, of course, with a Nora Roberts book, you can't go wrong. I enjoyed the second book more, but I like this narrator better. Either way, I say go ahead and download the series!

Just not sure

I am having trouble listening to this book. No offense to Ms. Durante, the narrator, but her lisp can be distracting. I was sorry in the beginning I used my credit. I continued to listen as I did not want to waste my credit and eventually you get used to the lisp and become more involved in the characters. All in all, not Ms. Roberts' best effort. Just okay. I am not sure if it was the narrator or content.

I loved the narrator!

I love all of Nora's books but seeing some of the reviews for the narrator Emily Durante, I was hesitant. Well I loved her! She made the characters come alive and I could just "see" them as if they were in the room with me. Great job!

4 girls and a wedding business: success

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! I loved it! Most of my girlfriends are engaged or in serious relationships and a love story about close friends, a wedding business, and love? What more could we want?!

Who was your favorite character and why?

As much as I love Mackenzie, Laurel is definitely my favorite character. In terms of personality she is most like me.

Have you listened to any of Emily Durante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard any other Emily Durante performances.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I could not get enough of it. I listened to it in the car so I didn't get to listen to it all in one sitting, but I would have loved to!

I didn't hear the lisp.

I didn't hear the lisp other reviewers are talking about. The only complaint I have about the narrator is I wish she made more of a difference in the 4 main women characters. It was hard to tell who was speaking. Other than that though, I really enjoyed the narration. I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews keep me from listening to this book. The story is classic Nora Roberts so it's excellent--of course. Really enjoyed this book & look forward to reading/listening the the rest of the serire.

Worst audio book I've ever listened to...

The story is so boring, I can't imagine anyone enjoying it. But worst than the writing, is the voice of the narrator, it is very irritating and mono toned. I have to advise anyone not to waste your money on this audio book....

Mediocre story coupled with poor narration

Honestly, I can't tell if it was the narrators voice and performance that made the story just "okay" or if the story was truly just "okay". The characters frustrated me to no end and the overall story fell a little flat. The idea of the business and the friendships are what kept me going, and the final confrontation between two characters at the end was very satisfying.

However I knew if the same narrator was performing the next book I wouldn't be able to continue. I feel bad for saying it but it was just unpleasant.

Finished and I'll wear that badge proudly. The narrator of book 2 sounds much better so hoping for better experience.

Preview the book before committing. Maybe read the first copy and then listen to the next.

Great book in a great series, worst narration ever

I enjoyed the book and couldn't make it past chapter one, it must have been the narrator first book. I really wanted to enjoy it, the other book in the series are narrated by others. I returned this.
