I feel that I am being repetitious, however...

... I cannot think of any other words to describe the wonderful, "clean," innocent, historical romances by the talented Barbara Goss.

I recommend any of the books written by Barbara Goss or narrated by the wonderful performance of Garrett L. Whitehead

Could be two books, actually!

Everyone makes mistakes, but not all are ready to deal with their consequences. Silas wasn't ready, but he had to face his past and make things right before he could have a future.

This is a (non-preachy!) Christian, clean romance that I found so sweet! I could partly guess where the story was headed and what had actually happened, but I still found it great fun to follow the characters along. The story of Cassie and Silas was a good lesson on how to stay true to both your heart and what is right - and how to hold your ground when you see things are headed in the wrong direction.

This book can be divided into two archs, one about solving the past and one about solving the present. I found the second part - in particular what happened the day of the counseling - to be unnecessary. The second part of the book wasn't bad by any means, but I think the book would have been able to stand on its own without the added drama. I loved the first part of the book and was a little disappointed by what happened when things started getting back on track - it might have been because I'd finished Mail Order Compromise recently, and seeing a similar event wasn't as impactful.

Garrett Whitehead has a very pleasant voice and clear narration. I had listened to other books from the same author that had been narrated by the same female (Reagan Boggs) and even though she is very talented, it was a nice surprise to listen to the story being told by an equally talented male narrator. Will definitely look forward to listening more from him in the future! I removed a star because - though I'm not sure whether this is a narration or an editing issue - I felt some sentences ran into others. At times a new scene/chapter started without any pause as an indication, so it irked me a little that some characters appeared to teleport or appear out of nowhere!

I asked the author for a free copy of the story in exchange for a review, and I was happily surprised! Barbara Gross writes stories that are usually shorter than others, but that's because she doesn't spend time on nonsense. It's very nice to start and finish a book in the same day, even though I miss the characters a little when it ends.

Definitely recommend!

The best narrator I've heard yet

What did you love best about The Kissing Bridge: Cassie's Story?

Ohh this story was super juicy and had some really great surprises throughout. By far my favorite of the series as of now. The narrator really knocked it out of the park with his subtle but charming southern accent. I'm from the south and when I hear people try and use a southern accent, it gets old real fast. Garrett Whitehead's accent was so organic and natural, it really made me feel right at home.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in one sitting. The narrator made it so enjoyable with the different voices and accents he used throughout the story to really define the each character. I've listened to many other audio books and this narrator was by far the best reader I've heard in a long time. Hope to hear him do some other great books.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to read what happens in the books to come. Thanks so much Barbara Goss for the lovely story and big thank you to Garrett Whitehead for keeping me company in my car for hours. You made this story really come to life!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I really liked this story. There is a twist quite early on which I was not expecting but it gave the book a bit of suspense and kept me reading to see what was going to happen next.

I would recommend this to those who love clean romance.

The Kissing Bridge

The Kissing Bridge
: Barbara Goss

A young couple are in love, but life isn't easy and there are stumbling blocks put in their way. Some of those are of their own doing others by accident. Will they overcome these and be happy or will they end up parting ways.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Garrett L. Whitehead did an awesome job with plenty of emotion in his delivery.

What an incredible struggle!

Cassie and Silas are deeply in love but they have more than their fair share of tragedies and trials! I love the narrator's animation in this book! He really gives the characters a voice with emotion and feelings! Another winning book by Barbara! I don't know how she does it but she does it consistently! I highly recommend this audio book and any of her books!

Loved this book!

This book held a little bit of everything for me. I love a book that isn't all fluff and love, but has a some meat to the plot. Barbara Goss has given this to us with Cassie and Silas's story. The two have been in love for several years, and through some old baggage of Silas's and some unfortunate events that take place, this couple perseveres. There is suspense, love, angst, faith, sadness and even some real worry about health throughout the book, bringing all emotions as you are reading it. It is a definite must if you enjoy books that are real and completely believable. I was enthralled and had to see how things would turn out. Signs of a good book!

Garrett L Whitehead is a new narrator for me, and I think he did a great job with this story. He sounds young, perfect for the age group of the characters and the western twang was fitting.

Incredibly emotional story

For me this was an incredibly emotional story. Cassie and Silas had to go through many hardships to sort out their lives and their love for each other. What I really loved is the true meaning of trust that Barbara Goss has written into her story. That there is nothing worse than the betrayal of that trust is very evident but also that if you really care for someone then that trust can be rebuilt.
I enjoyed Garrett Whitehead's telling of this story. He has a very interesting voice and reading manner.
Thank you, Barbara, for a lovely story that kept me listening into the wee hours and I'm looking forward to more of your delightful tales.
