I loved it

A very good beginning story to this series about a young lady who finds herself head over heels in love with the Marshall but he cares more for his job than to marry her - or so it seems.
I loved that Leila's love never faltered, it just grew stronger and stronger and also the moment of truth for Dan when he realizes that Leila is the one for him.
Barbara Goss has again written a beautiful love story with all the right components to make unputdownable. Can you tell that I loved it?
R. William James has an interesting voice and I enjoyed his rendition of this storytelling.
I am quite happy to recommend this audiobook story as an enjoyable and entertaining one.
An audiobook version was provided by the author at no cost and this is my honest and unbiased review.

Entertaining, exciting, spiritual

Any additional comments?

When you are women traveling on a train by yourself to meet the man you agreed to marry through a mail order bride ad and your train is taken over, they kidnap you just long enough to get away, throw you down, you hit your head, and everything goes black. You wake up not knowing where you are or who you are what do you do? You latch on to the man that saves you and becomes your hero but what do you do when the man doesn’t want to be latched on to? You hold on for dear life since he is the only person you know. This is the easy part but what do you do when your attend comes for you? I can tell you this there are a lot of twists and turns in this story that hold your attention. Just when you think it has all gone south there is another turn in the road.

The narrator does a wonderful job he really delivers the emotion of his characters giving a wonderful entertaining audio. His female and male voices are wonderful, you always know who is talking and just what they are feeling. He has a smooth strong voice that gives just enough pauses between each character to build the story to its height. No background noises, no volume changes just a smooth clean and clear audio. I thought his performance was wonderful. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I could really hear the pain, confusion and sorrow in Leila voice along with the uneasiness and confusion in Dan’s voice. The outlaws where great he really bought them to life as he gives them anger, confusion and defeat to their voices. This is the first time I have listen to any of his work I was very impressed.

The story I am torn I can understand why Leila felt the way she did but I am unsure in that time period if a women would go the lengths she did. If she had some more experience I would go along with it but to be honest who am I to say what a person would do when they has amnesia. I really wanted to feel sorry for her but with her action I just could not. Dan is who I felt the sorriest for as he tries to do what is right but she isn’t having any of that. He really is a man of honor and practice what he preaches. As he comes to understand he does has feeling for her he still can’t work through marrying her and leaving her behind with his dangerous job. There are so many things in their way and what about the man is to marry.

What the author gives you is a very entertaining story filled with action from the train robbery, cattle rustlers in one exciting read that pulls you in and takes you back in time to when the west was a very wild place to live. She brings religion into it with spiritual meaning in a clean story about a man who put god first but is tempted by a women who he really would love to have.

Love on the side of the road...

Any additional comments?

This book centered around the female lead, Leila and her journey to her future husband, Joe.

There is trouble on the train and Leila needs help from a handsome stranger.

There are twists, turns, and love in unexpected places making this story a Good weekend Read.

R. William James did well with the narration.

Mail Order Misdelivery!

I love the premise of this series...that perhaps a Mail Order Bride is better suited for a different suitor. In this case Leila was traveling west to meet Joe when her train was robbed and she suffered from a head injury and lost consciousness. Dan McCall rescued Leila and took her to the doctor where she awoke and discovered her memory was gone. In the midst of this trauma she met McCall for the first time and fell in love with him.

McCall is a confirmed bachelor. After all, a US Marshall doesn't have the most stable or safe job and he doesn't want to be the reason a woman might be left a widow. He is convinced that Leila's attraction to him is nothing more than hero-worship and she will get over it soon.

Slowly Leila's memory comes back and with it the realization that the man she was coming to marry isn't the upstanding man she thought he was. Now Leila has decisions to make.

The narrator was enjoyable to listen to and his voice went well with the story and the characters.

If you have read other Goss books this one does not place as much emphasis on faith as her other books, but is still good, clean romance that I highly recommend.

A mix-up worth the fight

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. The author did another great job in this Christian western romance genre. Every book she writes is different. In this story the main characters lives are so different and Dan keeps saying he is not the marrying type. However, he can't fight Leila's love for him. They are both stubborn in their feelings which makes this book hard to put down. The narrator did a good job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story.

Well Done

I never fail to enjoy books by Ms. Goss. This one was full of mystery, romance, inspiration and all the other things this author includes in all of her books. The book is well written and there are twists and turns to the very end. Intrigue follows Leila while she endeavors to remember who she is and Dan determines to keep from falling in love, finding all the obstacles to letting Leila into his heart. As should be, in the end, with God's help, everyone finds their place and those plaguing Dan and Leila are brought to justice.

The narration was great. Ms. Goss seems to have a knack for using only the best narrators.

Not one of my favorites by this author

This one seemed a little more forward/risque in speech than other Goss books I've read... which lowered it a star for me. However, the story was interesting and characters well developed.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

Love That Never Wavered

Leila’s love never wavered for Dan the sheriff. Hopefully he will wake up and accept. Good beginning to series and good narration. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Review

This is a sweet and romantic love story that I enjoyed so much I kept smiling while I was listening to it. During the sad parts I felt like crying because every great love story has moments when that love feels as if it is hopeless and will never reach fulfilment. The presenter did an excellent job I liked how he read the story. I prefer a male presenter reading the male characters rolls it always comes across much better.
