Surprisingly Good

Kaylee Cavanaugh knows there is something wrong with her. Maybe she's even dying. She can definitely tell when people around her are about to die. Unfortunately, all she can do when she senses their imminent death is scream at the top of her lungs. And now, Kaylee's caught the attention of the hottest guy in school and she can't even enjoy it because teenage girls are dropping dead all around her. I won't go into exactly what Kaylee's powers are so that I don't spoil it for anybody who decides to listen.

I just finished listening to this book and really enjoyed it. It's definitely a teen book but it was fun. Once the story got to going, I wanted to sit in the driveway and keep listening to the book. It's narrated by Amanda Ronconi. She was fantastic. I think half of what made this such a good listen was her narrating skills.

A true page-turner...

thanks to some unique plot elements, and a compelling heroine - I'm not normally a fan of first-person POV, but I really enjoyed this story. Kaylee wrestles with some real emotions and difficulties without crossing into whining, and her sense of humor provides a great contrast to the darker elements of the story.

Looking forward to the sequel!

Surprising & good!

I like Rachel Vincent's "were-panther" series, so thought I would give this a try - I really enjoyed it! Be sure to listen to the "prequel", as it provides back story. This one started a little slow, but it definitely caught my interest, and I wanted to know what happened next. And boy - what happened next! I don't want to give anything away, but will just say - I was very surprised and intrigued when we finally learned what was going on with Kaylee - and I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Banshee's a Brat.

This book gets three stars for its extremely unique plot line. Our heroine is a freaking brat. She hates everyone and everything except the boy she falls automatically in love with.. AUTOMATICALLY. If you are interested in the plot then give this one a try but be warned it is really, really teeny.

By the end of the book Kaylee was starting to come around and, I think the next installment will most likely be better but I will never know.

So many people really love this book and maybe I am missing something they are not but My Soul to Take was not my cup of tea.

Love Narrator Amanda Ronconi!

I will download any book narrated by Amanda Ronconi. Please give us more! The rest of the books in this series really only have the saving grace of being read by Amanda Ronconi.

This needs a proper tag

Audible, Audible, Audible, if Amazon can tag this as a TEEN novel, why can't you? Maybe I should have investigated more, but would it be that hard? I feel like I wasted a credit.
None of that is the author's fault however. I would have LOVED this book when I was a teen or young adult, so I gave it four stars. I really liked the narrator too.

Awesome Audible!

I have to listen to this again, because my 10 year old son was mad at me for finishing it without him! It was really good, I enjoyed the mystery, the little twists, the characters, all of it! As soon as I can, I plan to buy the next audio book in the series.

As for the narration: I don't know if it's because I was used to her after the prequel, or what, but I very much enjoyed it more than I did with said prequel. Clear enunciation and a pleasant voice made this all work just right with the story! Very well done.

Bob says: 4.5 Platypires!

Wow, did NOT expect that!

So...on the one hand I found this book in the romance section...but it only had a few kisses...why did it only have a few kisses...because the main characters are in high school! Yup, sucked into a YA novel when I expected paranormal steamy...HOWEVER...can't say I'm sorry!

This book was REALLY good! In a literary world over-run with witches, werewolves, and vampires this is a different paranormal breed and I have to say I am intrigued. The book was fast paced, and really funny. It was funny in the way Buffy the Vampire Slayer was funny, on an intellectual level not a slapstick one or laugh out loud because someone was embarrassed....this book was witty and energetic. I have the feeling it might get old after a few, but it might pick up and become more adult as it goes on. I have to say I am willing to find out and grab book 2.

The premise of this book is that Kaylie has a secret...sometimes she sees a particular person and can't resist the urge to scream....and scream...and scream! She has an overwhelming compulsion to scream because she KNOWS they will die. How does she know, well she's not sure, but she KNOWS! Her aunt and uncle treat her like she is crazy, and she is pretty sure her life as she knew it was over the night that Nash (the hottest boy in school!) sees one of these screaming compulsions....but he didn't run....why didn't he run...and why is he not treating me like I am crazy? All good questions...and they are all answered.

Good book, no sex scenes, nothing over PG really, but I am willing to get book 2, and we will see how it goes from there.

Glad I bought this book - unexpected

What made the experience of listening to My Soul to Take the most enjoyable?

All the plot twists and the end which I did not see coming!

Which scene was your favorite?

The very end

Any additional comments?

I really just bought this book because of Amanda Ronconi, I love her work. I thought the book might be too juvenile but to my surprise I really enjoyed it. Listened to it straight through. I'm happy Amanda Ronconi's work led me to this series. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.
