Publisher's Summary

This isn't another "I hate you because I secretly love you" story. Boy really does hate girl. And this isn't just a forbidden love story. This is obsession at its darkest.

I don't believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming.

I believe in fear.

He taught me how to be afraid.

We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn't be the last. For 10 years, he's been my tormentor and I've been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.

Now, he's back, and wants more than just my tears. You see...he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge...and he knows just how to get it.

I just can't...

I tried, really did. But I don't find it attractive or find it healthy to lust after or develop feelings over a long period of time for a juvenile delinquent that's repeatedly telling you " I'm going to kill you." And the narrator needs to learn how to say voluptuous. Couldn't finish it.

NO WAY IN HELL.

I refuse to finish this garbage. Don't read if you feel that 17 year old girls should have any type of self esteem or self worth.

LAME

This book is so lame! Why would someone write a story like this about TEENAGERS?! College, maybe but high schoolers? Who wants to picture 17 and 18 year olds having rough sex and being covered in hickies!? GROSS! The story didn't even get interesting until the last chapters. Horrible story!

This story had me pulling my hair out!

This story was so intense! The fact that I did not know what was going through K's head made it even more intense. I liked how I was going blind just as was Lake. I wanted to punch K so many times and a minute later wanted to pounce him! I just thought K was too controlling for my taste, but Lake actually likes it so if it flows your boat, go for it. I understood why the two other guys were so protective of K, they did not know the missing player participating in the game. This is a long series, and I get the feeling you need to listen to all the books to understand what's happening.

The performance was awesome for Ava! Ava portrayed their unconventional "relationship" perfectly and It helped immensely for me to continue listening. Its safe to say I will definitely continue to listen the following books!

Awesome start

I’ve read this series, so the start line is no surprise to me. It’s dark and thrilling and mysterious. I love dark books and there aren’t nearly enough on audio, so for B.B. Reid to come to Audible is very exciting.

Fear Me is where we meet all the characters in this series but is focused on Kieran and Lake. Lake is the good girl who makes the right and good decisions and Kieran is the bad boy who has come to ruin her. The book starts out just this simple but morphs into a book about so much more depravity that you will stunned as the hours tick by.

Ava Erickson is of course a brilliant narrator for the job. The perfect mix of innocent and coming of age then throw in her ability to narrate the male voice and you can easily stay inside the book and not be pulled out by the narration at all.

The only thing I wish the editing would have done is made the flashbacks a little easier to decipher. There were a few times that I had to rewind and relisten wondering what I missed because it was clearly a flashback that I didn’t catch onto.

I freaking LOVED this book

Okay so the topic is taboo, with (IMO) dubious consebg...But there are a ton of books out there with worse stuff out there. I loved Kieran's young, alpha male, dominant asshole-ish self! If you don't like against all odds stores than this isn't the book or series for you but for me and my book club- we freaking LOVED IT!! BB Reid...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put the rest of your books on audio. I'm a crafter and no longer have the bandwidth to curl up with a book. Also- Ava Erickson ROCKED this book out! She's hilarious with her tone and emotion and never sounds like she's reading. Even tho she doesn't have the best male voice on the world, her overall performance makes up for it.

IM SO CONFUSED . I LOVED IT JUST CONFUSED

This book went from high school to fatal attraction really quick. I thought I was listening to one story but some crazy disturbing behavior was lurking in the back story. I don’t think the summary tells you what the real story is so be ready for a violent ride. Loved the narration.

Twisted, violent and dark & cliffhanger!

I have to admit that this was a disturbing audiobook to listen to. There are a lot of trigger events that may disturb some listeners, such as non-consensual sex, violence against the heroine by the hero and just a negative atmosphere all together. There was very little adult supervision of the high school characters in this story and they seemed to be free to do whatever they wanted without consequence. There is mention of drugs, alcohol and prostitution, slavery and forced submission. Overall, a dark and disturbing story with a huge cliffhanger. The narration was done fairly well, but I’m not sure if I’m ready for the next book yet without taking a mental health break.

So Good! So Dark! You'll hate to LOVE it!!

The writing in this book is soooo fantastic! As my first BB Reid book, I was extremely impressed! And those sex scenes... HOLLY HOTNESS MAN! I'm surprised my iPhone didn't just burst into flames or combust! Seriously... the heat between Lake and Kieran was out of this world hot! Yes, it was also incredibly dark!

I have never in my life been so confused by a book... I disliked Kieran so much more than I think I have any other character... ever. Well, how the heck did I end up caring what happened to him? Feeling pain for him? Sympathizing with his feelings because there's no way I could understand his feelings or his actions. So how did I end up caring for a character that I wished would implode? BB Reid, that's how... she somehow created this dominating, alpha male character like I've never read before. Reid made him.... somehow... likable? Or perhaps you just feel for him? Either way, you don't just feel disgust... ok, you do feel disgust for most of the book but somewhere around 60% you realize you don't want his death to be as bloody. I don't know how she did it, but she did... that's talent!

I grew to love this whole cast and crew. They were all so likable. Lake I just completely adored and really rooted for her. I LOVE Willow. I mean, shouldn't we all be so lucky to have such a loyal friend? The secondary relationships were just as intriguing as the main characters. I'm thrilled to see that I'm going to get a book on them too. I loved everything about this book. I removed 1 star because some of the story seemed a bit too far-fatched... I know, I know... I'm annoying this is FICTION... the sky is the limit! There is no far-fetched! But... it was the lack of parental involvement for really anyone but Willow's mom. I mean, how can everyone be scared of this one high schooler? How can no parents stand up for their child? I don't know, but that was my complaint.

Also, I listened to this book on audio and holly amazing Batman! This audio performance was one of the BEST I've heard and I'm an audio addict (Seriously, I have a problem)! Ava Erickson is the narrator and I had to double check that there wasn’t some male back up thrown in... there isn't one! Woot Erickson! You pulled off voice changes super impressively! I could FEEL Lake's pain in her voice, I could feel her fear, her hurt, her outrage. She had superb voice changes for every character. I just can't get over the guy voices. I mean you could feel the contempt Kieran held for Lake... just fantastic work! Seriously impressed!

I received a discounted or free copy of this audio book with the hope that I would leave my Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my Opinions.
