Aro

Hawken Trent. So polite. So sweet. Such an upstanding young man. A virgin, too, I hear. He never gets naughty with a girl. Probably because Jesus told him not to. And now here he is, trying to be the hero by protecting another girl from me.

He calls me a bully. Irrational. Unreasonable. A criminal. He can call me anything he wants, I’ve heard worse. And he can try to stand between me and my money, but he’s never had to fight for food. That rich, clean, school boy doesn’t have what it takes.

Hawke

I surprised her. You should’ve seen her face.

Just because I don’t have a record, honey, doesn’t mean I’m clean. It just means I’m better at not getting caught. That is until I realize I might’ve actually gone too far this time.

She’s there. I’m there. The scene of the crime. It’s dark. The police show up. We have no choice. We run. Down High Street, into Quinn’s bake shop, and I pull her through the entrance to the old speakeasy that everyone forgot was here decades ago.

The door locks, the cops circle the building, never knowing we’re right here, and I’m hidden in plain sight, indefinitely, with someone’s who’s awful. Mean. Rough. Dirty. A thief. A delinquent.

Until one night, lost in all of these rooms together, I don’t see any of those things anymore. She’s smart. Daring. Soft. Hot… Everything’s changing. It’s this place. It does something to people.

We have a silly urban legend in Shelburne Falls about mirrors. They’re a gateway. Don’t lean back into them. But we came through front first. I don’t care what the county records say. This was never a speakeasy. It’s Carnival Tower.

Fall Boys is a standalone new adult romance suitable for listeners eighteen plus. Listening to the Falls Away series first is helpful but not necessary.

Penny D can do no wrong! Her writing is fantastic, but why leave me hanging? I have questions😆. I won't spoil anything, but when things finally went down with Hawke and Aero, oh my stars, that was🔥. Their love-hate chemistry got things going so well.

Loved It!

I adored this book! It was so sweet and grabbed my attention right away. Listening to it on Audible was a treat, especially with the perfectly cast narrators whose voices resonated deeply with the main characters, Aro and Hawke. The story unfolded as a slow burn, with good plot, storyline, and impeccable character development. I found myself rooting for Aro and Hawke's innocent and blossoming love from the very beginning. Gosh, I just loved them!

Hawke was the standout character, a mama's boy surrounded by an incredible family dynamic that added depth to the narrative. Everyone’s dream, right? He has it all.

Aro's character was expertly crafted though, her raw innocence balanced with the hardness and “I do what I have to to take care of my own”, mentality as the caretaker of for her siblings with an addict mom and abusive stepdad. I felt a strong connection to her journey of growth. I loved her.

The ending was exactly what my heart needed for this book. It was so warm and happy. It's a reminder that everyone deserves their happily ever after.

The author's note at the end sealed it for me…Penelope Douglas just has this exceptional talent with words and her ability to deeply connect with her readers. She touched me to the core and it solidified my admiration for her work.

Incredible narration and sweet story of love and growth

I love how it connects to the other series but has its own storyline. All the books from Penelope are amazing. I was a little disappointed in the Spanish. If it was only a couple words in Spanish I would t have minded but there’s full sentences that was not narrated correctly

Awesome story line!

I can't tell you how excited I was to hear that my favorite Falls kids had babies. Not only did Penelope give them their ever afters but we get to find out the kind of trouble their kids are getting into!

We all know that thwy won't be angels! I was so excited! I almost expected Quinn to be first but I have a feeling her Prince Charming is still...wallowing!?! So I was surprised to learn Hawk was our first to fall and fall he did.

Aro is his match in so many ways because she is his complete opposite! Impulsive, reactive, and willing to throw punches, she is chaos to his calm. They are explosive.

She is everything he never knew he needed. He is everything she never thought she'd have. They are perfect for each other. Together they feel or can just be!

A new start and new era but with all the comforts of home

Beautiful story, top notch writing, I couldn’t put it down. The letter from the author at the end wrecked me but in a good way. Finally, Abby Craden could read me the terms and conditions and I’d swoon. 5 stars all around!

I didn’t expect to love it but I did

I liked the originally of the storyline itself. The narrators are both very good. In my opinion, the characters aren't described enough as in physical descriptions but more so in who these people are and how they know each other. By chapter 4, I'm still kinda in the dark. Then the uncles show up....it just gets muddled even more.

Undeveloped Characters

I didn’t love Aro at first. I grew to somewhat like her by the end of the book but still not my favorite character. I did like the thread of a mystery that appears to roll to the next book in the series. I appreciated the author’s letter at the end. It gave some first hand perspective on Aro’s character development.
