Publisher's Summary

THE PUPPET

Borrow the bike. Win the race. Collect the cash. It should’ve been an easy job. Ran out of town with a broken leg and a lawsuit, my mother’s latest flame swoops in like a knight in gilded armor. Blackwood Keep is a place I don’t belong, and I’m not the only one who knows. To the boy across the hall, my savior’s only son, I’m a stray looking for a bone.

He’s lord of the manor. King of the academy. And number one on my shit list.

THE PEER

I have no intentions of becoming a happy family with the social climber and her wild daughter. A bottle of Jameson and a cracked skull gets my problem shipped to reform school, but I didn’t bank on her returning.

Four’s out to get even, and she almost had the perfect plan: expose the privileged kid moonlighting as a gangbanger. She’s smart, but she’ll have to be smarter. Sending her away won’t be good enough this time. I’m going to have to tame the little troublemaker. To the girl across the hall, the one without a name, I’m nothing without my silver spoon.

She’s lady of the trailer park. Queen of the swamps. And my new favorite pastime.

The Peer and the Puppet is a standalone romance, however, the series is one story. The plot introduced in Four and Ever’s story will continue in the following novels. No cliffhangers.

Entertaining listening

I had already read the print version of The Peer and the Puppet but I had to give the audiobook a listen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator's did a great job. My only issue was when Savannah would speak as Four. In the beginning she started off doing a Southern accent like Four, but then it stopped. I was thrown off by that. I really did love her voice though. I really loved Joe's voice when he would read with Jamie's accent. Overall I was extremely entertained.

Awesome book

This book exceeded all my expectations. It started off a little slow but it didn’t take long for it to pick up. This is definitely an Alpha A-hole but Four is not someone who gets ran over by him. Really enjoyed the story and can not wait for the next book. And of course the narration is perfection.

So good!!!

This is a fantastic audiobook! I had previously read The Peer and the Puppet but when B.B. announced it would become an audiobook I knew I had to listen to it. And it did not disappoint!! Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood did a masterful job bringing these characters to life.

This is the story of Four and Ever (swoon ❤️❤️❤️), a girl from the wrong side of the tracks thrust into a world she was in no way prepared for.

The push and pull, the secrets and the lies, and the secondary characters (waves to Jamie) all enhance this world B.B. Reid has created and the audio has just enhanced the experience.

Story and performances that made me want more

This story pulled me in almost immediately. Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood did a fantastic job embodying Ever and Four, only occasionally forgetting the accents for Four and Jamie. The characters of Four and Ever had such depth and I loved seeing each new layer be unveiled. I spent half this book with bated breath, waiting for things I was just sure would happen, and the other half stunned by reveals that hit me out of nowhere. BB Reid knew just had far she could take the story before letting it go, like a rubber band stretched to its limits before soaring thru the air. Furthermore, she created an entire group of side characters so fascinating that before I had finished The Peer and the Puppet, I was already clamoring for follow up stories featuring Jamie and Vaughn. I look forward to revisiting these characters and taking future journeys to Blackwood Keep.

Really enjoyed it

My first audiobook by this author and can gladly say I enjoyed it very much. The characters chemistry is what basically kept me engaged. I loved the secondary characters as well and their dynamic. For this being an angsty YA, it was well done and certainly extremely well narrated. Savannah Peachwood outdid herself!!! Joe Arden is just amazing, as always.

Four is a total BA

I listened to this book in audio form. This was my first time listening/reading a book by this author. Overall I enjoyed the storyline. The characters were entertaining I really loved Jamie and Four. I had a love hate relationship toward Ever, the boy had mood swings every other page, I felt like I couldn’t keep up and I just wanted to shake him and tell him make up his damn mind. But Four on the other hand was a total BA, she had her moments too, but I loved her nonetheless. I was hoping for a more complete ending but maybe in another book in the series.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Angst Filled Deliciousness!!

This was the first Audio book I have listened to. To be honest I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. That turned out to be unfounded as I Loved it!!! I have already read The Peer and The Puppet but this escalated the book into a new level. Being able to listen to the narrators bring this story to life was utter Perfection.

This is a non-stop ride from the start, you're thrust into a world so delectable you won't want to leave. This story is filled with all the angst, drama and mouthwatering sexiness you can handle. The push and pull between Four and Ever is exquisite in it's form. Their passion and connection is exciting to watch, and will give you all the tingles. The twists and turns that Bebe has woven will keep you on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what's going to happen.

"Once upon a puppet, she spun a tale to the mad king"- The Peer.

Bebe created the perfect combination of character's to make the story enticing and real. You can feel their emotions as they break and as the fall. You become invested in these character's and what's going to happen to them.

Ever is an enigma you watch and wait to see if you can figure him out, his motivation's, what's really going on in his head. But, honestly until the very end you can't, the complexity with which Bebe has written him makes it nearly impossible.

"Once upon a puppet, the peer awaited her in his chambers."

Four is this wonderful character who's so strong and independent and yet fragile. Bebe pulls out the protective side of you when it comes to Four. You just want to protect her and be there for her. The strength she exudes but with the hint of vulnerability is addictive.

Bebe has composed the mother of all slow-burn tales full of unrestrained twists and turns. You'll become engrossed in the magic that she has created and feel yourself interlaced with emotion unable to break free until the Very. Last. Page.... Hurry, read this story and fall in love with these characters as I have, you will not be disappointed

LOVE this story! The narrators are PERFECT!

I've read The Peer and The Puppet more times than I can count! The narrators chosen for this story were amazing! Their accents are spot on!! Absolutely perfect. I've listened to books before that were narrated by one person and all throughout the book it lacked emotion and sounded very monotone! That is NOT the case with this audiobook. The emotion portrayed in their voices are what make this audiobook!

The Peer and The Puppet is the 1st book in the When Rivals Play series by B.B. Reid. After getting into trouble, Four and her mom Rosalyn end up moving in with her mom's boyfriend Thomas. Thomas' son Ever McNamara does NOT want Four Archer and her mother in his home. He vows to do whatever he can to get rid of them and bring his missing mother home. Four is stronger than most her age; having to deal with her moms issues on her own for way too long. The drama and angst surrounding these two is both exhilarating and agonizing in the best possible way!

Four-Ever ♥️

I’ve read this book over and over again over the last year... but first time listening to it.... oh my days ... I’m definitely going to be listening to the rest of bebe’s books...

Listening made things sound new 🤷‍♀️
I imagined the places and characters in a different way than I did whilst reading...it helped me imagine scenes in my head better.

This will definitely be listened to again
I love four and ever ♥️

All the feels! 5 astounding stars ⭐️

My first book from B.B Reid- and OMG I’m so completely captivated and blown away at the same time!
Joe and Savannah make the perfect duo for Ever and Four. This story pulled at my heart strings in every way, with equally strong lead characters and secondary characters.
Highly recommend this book and this audiobook to anyone curious or contemplating this story.

I loved this book. The narrators did a fantastic job with the voices of Ever and Four. They brought them to life and made it so much more entertaining and enjoyable to listen too.
