Publisher's summary

Half human and half Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful---and passionate---of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in one another.

Critic reviews

"This is an outstanding blend of romantic suspense and urban fantasy with great storytelling and world building, extremely sensuous scenes that move the story arc along, and characters [listeners] will be reluctant to leave." ( Booklist)

What a delightful find!

Action packed, as only a story can be, Pia has the worst week ever! Interesting characters in a modern world with a twist kept me listening nonstop.

Sophie Eastlake is a narrator I would like to listen more to. Although at the start I was a little concerned that her narration would be monotonous, this turned out to be completely inaccurate.

A god combination of story and narrator makes this a fantasy/paranormal HEA romance for all lovers of the genre.

Interesting and Written New World!

First let me stress the fantastic narration!! Truly a pleasure to listen!!

I enjoyed this book very much. The author has done a great job of introducing a new and yet familiar world. The characters are well drawn -some to love, some to make me laugh, some that surprised me and some to hate. This is an ADULT romance. The violence and LUST definitely make this a 17 and over book. What world does not contain these elements?? I would not be drawn to a pansy bookwith unrealistic emotional response from the protagonists. However the balance of not too much violence or too much LUST (😊) is perfect, they add to the story without taking it over! I was not ever bored!!
Definitely worth the credit!!
I am excited to find out what the next book in this series is about & I am buying it blindly right now.

The Freaking Penny

Pia Giovanni is half-human and half-Wyr. She has spent her life keeping a very low profile among the Wyrkind in order to protect herself. When she is blackmailed by her jerk of an ex-boyfriend to steal something from the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre, she knows she has too in order to keep her secrets hidden but also knows that if and when Dragos finds out...she's toast.

Dragos Cuelebre is incredulous when he finds out that not only did someone have the audacity to steal from him, but they also succeeded! Determined to catch and punish the thief, he is greatly surprised and intrigued when he finds the young women Pia to be the clever thief. Instead of killing her, her spares her life because he can't help but feel a huge desire to be with her and protect her.

This was a really fun book and I absolutely loved the world building! I must admit though, that at first I was really darn confused with all the different elements of the world. It was a major info dump that was a tad much. There are the Wyr, the elves, the fae and more that I found myself a bit overwhelmed. Eventually it all evened itself out and I was able to fully immerse myself fin the story.

Pia was fun, clever and a rather hilarious character. When she is forced to steal from Dragos, she steals a penny. Just an ordinary, everyday penny and to make it better? She even leaves him a note with another penny! It was so ample but I couldn't help but laugh. She is also a strong and brave women for although she admit to herself that she is afraid of Dragos, she stands up to him and refuses to cower in from of him.

Dragos, on the other hand, is commanding, huge and completely baffled by his reaction to Pia. More Dragon than man most of the time, he doesn't quite understand his reaction to Pia only that she is his and no one else's. Dragos' entire way about him was something truly refreshing and honestly quite hilarious. He is so knew to normal human concepts because he barely pays attention to them which just makes him that much more charming and lovable when he is trying to impress and "behave" for Pia!

Dragos and Pia together were a great combination of stubbornness, understanding, possessiveness and kindness. The two were pretty perfect and add in the secondary characters and it was even better. I loved all the interations between the fierce sentinels and the Pia, the girl with the questionable heritage, and how they all came to love and adore her just as much as Dragos did.

Truly this was a great book and I look forward to reading/listening to the rest in the series. It was a great fantasy romance with major elements in both genres which did not allow one to overshadow the other! Definitely a new favorite series of mine and one I recommend to anyone interested in Dragons, fantasy and romance!

Absolutely Fantastic!!!

What can I say, but that you have to read this book. It had all the right elements, strong male and female roles. Great secondary characters, kept me glued to this audiobook to the very end. Story line was that great. Good drama, steamy scenes, and after 12hours of listening I didn't want it to end.

Great story with a pace that keeps you interested.

Yep, it's a good one ...

This one has it all - good plotting, adventure, werefolk, dragons, good elves, bad elves, and a long slow bumpy crisis-challenged romance. I give this author five stars for an excellent, unique novel. Quite a relief to find a "romance package" novel that actually has an interesting well written unique story.

Dragon bound: Elder Races book 1

A surprisingly well written book that manages to be a love story without all the over used words and phrases that other books in this genre use. Well except for the required *mine* ;) A hunky demanding dragon and a smart mouth sassy heroine. Don't pass up this one!
