Publisher's summary

There was nothing more painful than falling in love with your best friend.

From New York Times best-selling author R.L. Mathewson comes the prequel to the disturbingly funny romantic-comedy series Neighbor from Hell.

She couldn’t do this anymore.

After watching her best friend and the man whom she’d been in love with her entire life propose to another woman, Morgan decided that it was time to finally move on. She made plans, plans that Eric didn’t know about, and she planned to keep it that way, but unfortunately for her, one bet destroyed everything, leaving her with no choice but to be there for her best friend one last time.

He was done.

After catching his fiancée cheating on him, Eric Bradford was done wasting his time on women with whom he had absolutely no hope of falling in love. He just needed time, a chance to get away, and he just needed...her.

Determined to figure out how he kept screwing up his life, Eric asks Morgan for one more favor, one that would change everything and leave him with no choice but to do whatever it takes to stop the one woman who meant everything to him from finally walking away.

Another Good One!!!

I love the Bradford men & their neighbors they fall in love with. So far Eric & Morgan story is my fav. I love the friends who have loved each other since they meet storyline.
I’ve waited for this book to hit audio because I love the narrator. She does a great job bringing the characters to life. I can’t wait for the next Bradford to fall in love with the next pain in their ass neighbor.

The whole series is well worth the read

I love the fact that she is going back and writing stories that are before the series started. This is one of my all-time favorite series. It is so entertaining there’s comedy and romance. I have read so many romance books that they become predictable. So far the series is not predictable and I have reread them many times. I also read some of her other series and she covers such a variety of style of writing. I can’t wait to find more that she has written.
The reader of the story does a awesome job, and she is one of my favorite readers

Bad, bad, bad, editing.

We all should get a quarter for every single time the author uses the word “twitch” and a buck for every time she used the phrase “f———- adorable”. Then we would get our money back on this monstrosity. I have read many books by this author (back when she and her editor gave a f—- ) and the only good thing about this book is Fran’s excellent character transitions when she reads. Fran Jewel is the only reason I wasted a credit.
If you are picking this in anticipation of the sex chapter(s), you’ll have to wait until the end. My mouth is twitching to say, “So, so, so, NOT f-ing adorable.”

Cringy

So much of this book was cringy. Not sure the author knows the difference between “adorable” and “ditsy” and the author used the same descriptive words over and over …how many times can a character “worry her bottom lip between her teeth”? Like 27 times in this book.

There were times in the book where things completely changed and I had to rewind to several times to see what happened only to discover there was no transition..one minute they were headed to a cruise and then they were in a cab headed home…sure he mentioned it being cancelled, but there needed to be more between that word and them in a cab connecting those dots.

It was ok…

It felt very repetitive and unrealistic. The guy kept gushing every five second about how beautiful the girl was and it was just over the top. Honestly the entire book could’ve been read in two hours if they cut all the repetitive stuff out. I’m on the fence as if I’ll keep reading the series or just pass and move on.

A good story

I love R.L. Mathewson. I have read all her books at twice. I am a fan. Pretend the story is ok. It is very repetitive of all her other stories. She uses the same phases so many times in all her books. I know these are her signature phases, but as a reader there are so many times you want to hear them. R.L. exhausts all the same phases in every book. Like I wrote I am a fan. Yes, I will buy the next book and pray she changes her phases.
