Publisher's summary

You'll never quit porn if you believe it's the problem. Porn is the solution. This may sound crazy. You may be sure porn is your problem. I thought the same thing and spent years trying to fix it. It didn't work.

So what's the problem?

Now that's a question worth asking.

If you can't stop using porn there is a reason.

I want to help you learn why.

Inside, you'll discover:

  • Why most approaches to quitting porn fail.
  • The three reasons we avoid getting help.
  • The five steps to creating a porn-free plan for your life that never fails.

"Your life doesn't have to be defined by your porn addiction." (Matt Dobschuetz)

Critic reviews

"Most messages we hear about porn leave us feeling ashamed, helpless, and hopeless. Porn Free invites you to be curious about your story and shows you how to become a person who does not need porn." (Jay Stringer, psychotherapist and author of Unwanted: How Sexual Brokenness Reveals Our Way to Healing)

Great tool for recovery

I am a fan of the authors podcast, but this book is a well put together, concise narrative entailing all of the themes discussed on the podcast. It's really giving me new tools to think about my efforts at recovery that differ from my old approach in a myriad of ways. Thanks, Matt!

Extremely helpful

I have listened to a few books like this, and nothing met my struggles. As much as this book did I could visualize the things I was going through, and now I can visualize the steps into stopping my struggle. Thank you so much. I will definitely listen to this book a few more times.

One of the best. Take the time!

Matt has unraveled some new concepts for me here, and that is unusual for me. Definitely one if the best books I have read. Take the time it is worth it.

At least interesting.

This audiobook makes a lot of assumptions in my opinion, that is only my opinion however.

Problematic, but still worth a listen

It is a decent overall listen, and Mr. Dobschuetz definitely seems sincere and speaking from his heart. That being said there are a few major problems I had with this book. 1. Claiming porn is NOT an addiction but rather just a habit ignores all of the modern science and things we are learning about dopamine. Porn 100% IS an addiction. Like other addictions, it can be conquered. Calling porn an addiction will not lessen your chances of recovery as Dobschuetz claims.
2. This book is WAY too Christian. Some people relate to this, but not me. There's a lot in here I just cannot relate to at all. A lot of it seems to stem from the shame he felt because of his religion. Personally, I rarely feel shame from porn, at least not since I was older. I just do not like the fact that it desensitizes you to normal sex. I don't like the fact that I depend on it for stress relief, and it gets harder and harder to fill that addiction hole.
Overall, there are a few good tips and stories in here, and it is interesting to hear, and it still is helpful in some ways, so I would still recommend it. But if religious mumbo jumbo really gets under your skin, you probably wouldn't be able to look past that and look for a different book.
