We all have ideas that we tell ourselves about God and how he works in our lives. Some are true--but many are false. Story
This revolutionary book about our future is based on the simple idea that, according to the Bible, heaven is not our eternal home - the New Earth is. As Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, the next chapter of our story begins with "the renewal of all things", by which he means the Earth we love in all its beauty, our own selves, and the things that make for a rich life: music, art, food, laughter, and all that we hold dear. Everything shall be renewed "when the world is made new".

Join the conversation as a father and son talk about pursuing beauty, dealing with money, getting married, chasing dreams, knowing something real with God, and how to find a life you can call your own. Killing Lions is more than fatherly advice. It is an invitation into a journey: either to be the son who receives fathering or the father who learns what must be spoken. Most important, these conversations speak to a searching generation: "You are not alone. Its not all up to you. You are going to find your way."

Follow one man’s journey of learning to hear the voice of God. By putting words to the things God has shown him through some amazing experiences, John Eldredge helps listeners shed light on the miraculous truths that God is showing them right now. Our deepest need is to live in conversation with God. To hear his voice. To follow him intimately. This is the single most life-changing habit that a human being can adopt, because it brings us back to the source of life. Yet most Christians have never been taught how to have a conversation with the Creator.

Best of all, though, you'll broaden your vision of Jesus Christ, the focal point of Scripture. How? By better understanding the geographical, religious, and historical concerns that shaped the world in which he lived.

Publisher's Summary
With exclusive audiobook-only content, Morgan Snyder’s Becoming a King unabashedly speaks directly to men, teaching them the life-changing truth about the power that God intends for them to responsibly step into for his kingdom, while also giving women an honest peek behind the curtain into the lives and hearts of the men they know and love.
It is God’s design, desire, and intention to empower humans and entrust them to participate in the ongoing creativity of the universe. Yet a look at our history and the world around us shows that the story of most men is being entrusted with power and having that power bring harm to themselves and those under their care.
What’s gone wrong? When can you entrust a man with power?
In Becoming a King, Morgan Snyder shares that when we take a deeper pass at the external problems around us, we begin to see the problems within our souls. Yet Morgan suggests there is hope in an ancient path that leads men to become trustworthy kings.
Journey with Morgan as he walks alongside men (and the women who love and encourage them) to rediscover this path of inner transformation. Becoming a King is an invitation into a radical reconstruction of much of what we’ve come to believe about God, ourselves, and the meaning of life. It’s an invitation to a rare and remarkable fellowship of like-hearted kings and an honest conversation about what power and responsibility look like for men in our world today.
Traveling the path isn’t cheap. It isn’t easy. It isn’t quick.
But it is the heroic journey detailed in Becoming a King that leads to real life; to men becoming as solid and mighty as oak trees, teeming with strength and courage to bring to a hurting world; and to our sons, husbands, brothers, and friends becoming the kind of kings to whom God can entrust his kingdom.
Audiobook-exclusive content includes: extended prayers, additional reflections, and a conversation you won’t want to miss. Morgan Snyder gathered three of his closest allies who have all lived, breathed, and consented to the message of Becoming a King for more than a decade. Hear their stories and lock arms with them in the unshakable hope that more life, strength, and joy are available than we have been led to believe.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.
Critic Reviews
"Morgan Snyder has taken the journey that he so compellingly invites other men to embark on in his beautifully written and wisdom-filled book. Courageously honest and true, Becoming a King is a worthy read that you will come back to time and time again and, as Morgan expresses so well, a noble calling to pursue. As a woman reading Becoming a King, I was inspired with how to better come alongside the men in my life, to lovingly encourage them in their lives' ultimate calling." (Stasi Eldredge, New York Times best-selling author of Captivating)
"For the rare few willing to enter into the quiet places of the soul, Becoming a King will prove to be one of the most radical, reorienting, and encouraging books you will ever read." (Zack Duhame, Screen Actors Guild Award winner and actor, Lone Survivor, Dunkirk, Star Trek, Transformers, and The Matrix)
"Morgan walks us into the basement of our souls, clicks on the light, and begins turning over skeletons and lies. What's at stake? You and me. But fear not. He's been here before. The scars are proof. This is neither theory nor theological wrangling. It's an excavation of the heart. A rescue mission to steal back the truth of us. This book may well shatter the paradigm you have of yourself--only to restore the one your Father has written on your heart. I love everything about this." (Charles Martin, New York Times best-selling author)

Results From 2 Months of Reading
Things I have done as a result of this book in the past two months:
1) learn how to chop down a tree and make firewood
2) pray for best friends, and fight for my friendship with them
3) care more about who I am becoming than how much money I have or my accomplishments
4) be patient with myself
5) learn to hear God's voice, and learn that He is kind and not critical
6) instead of feeling "Behind" every day when I wake up, declaring that I am a son, and that my Father has already been at work for my good before I wake up
7) admit that I don't know something, ask for help, and learn (this is how I'm currently learning to fish)
8) have fun, and value having fun (I'm learning to skateboard too)
9) own and carry a knife, and feel confident using it
10) stop being afraid of power and violence and learn to use those things for good (why I wasn't paralyzed when I was needed to rescue a woman from a Rottweiler attacking her)
11) believe that in order to know God I must spend time with Him...and be inspired to actually spend time with Him
12) not be afraid of being unproductive, and am able to more joyfully and wholeheartedly spend time with my kids
And this is just the tangible results of 2 months of reading. Becoming A King is a 10 year commitment.

One of my top 3 Christian genre ...
Becoming a King hit places in my heart that I thought had been recovered. It opened the eyes of my heart to places that needed to be awakened. Again? For the first time? Both.
I would recommend Becoming a King to any man that wants to create a full hearted life, to reach further into the frontier of his heart with God, with other men. We all want to step up and be able to tackle life. Becoming a King will guide your heart, will bring clarity to climbing the right ladder: to one that brings true life, and bring it to the full.
I have read many books in the Christian genre, and Becoming a King is one of my top 3 (the other two were written by John Eldredge and Andy Stanley). Morgan Snyder has grown into this message...and delivered it in the right moment.

Way too dramatic of a reading
As someone well into my own healing journey this read fell super flat. That said, if you are just starting out on your healing journey and becoming a king this may be the book for you. The biggest issue I had is the way this guy/author reads. It is completely one dimensional, overly dramatic. Simply, is difficult to listen to. It’s like a 10 hour dramatic monologue. It feels like he is trying too hard with every single word. I encourage a re-recording of this book. I think the book could be more impactful that way.

Incredible book - needed by every Jesus follower
I can’t express how much I enjoyed and nodded my way through this book. Thank you Morgan! And thank you to all whose shoulders you stood upon to write this book. I can’t encourage people enough to read this bike and tell everyone you love about it. I’ve long been a fan of Wild at Heart and their books and ministry - and this book demonstrates both a continuity and a new wave of their reach and message. So much of what Morgan wrote put into words what I’ve been longing for someone to express and speak to, questions I’ve had and been wrestling with myself. But along with the questions he gives tangible direction to walk in and work toward in a daily way. I can’t say thank you enough. I have been and will be continuing to recommend this book to all who will listen!

Life Changing
I would reccommend this book for every man. It is filled with so much life and hope. The wisdom contained in it is not pie-in-the-sky stuff, it is real and accessable.
The gravity of this book is the authenticity and raw courage with which Morgan Snyder squares off with the deepest questions that haunts us as men. He uncovers a narrow road, an adventure that I desperately longed for.

An invitation to a new way of living
Morgan has wonderfully distilled much guidance and wisdom he has both received, and lived out, into this book. It’s both encouraging and challenging, but most of all it’s inspiring. This book speaks of the masculine journey and seeks to convey God’s ideals rather than our society’s ones. I’d recommend to anyone who feels that their chasing of worldly success hasn’t given them the satisfaction they’d anticipated.

Inspiring, timely and practical
I love the way the author candidly shares from his experience and the experience of those who have gone before him. Developing a well honed guide to walk us through a journey of excavation of ourselves, and then rebuilding it on a solid foundation.
I would recommend this book to anyone, male or female, young and old, who can see the crazy pace, pressure and expectation that we put on ourselves to get “life right”, and those who have a heart to challenge their status quo, and pursue a life and walk with God.
I have given it 5 stars as I cannot ignore the deep impact it has had on my life, my relationships and general outlook on life.
