Entertaining audio book just in time for road trips

Check out this book if you are in the market for a fast paced mystery amateur detective audio book for those long road-trips. The reader does a nice job narrating the story.
NB: This book is too mature for young children.

One-Two, Kill a Few

I found this to be a good book. I love a fast paced Mystery books, and I found this one very amusing.
The characters are well written, and very enjoyable. I loved her roommates, and how they all joined together to catch the killer! i enjoyed their sneaky around, their gatherings around the kitchen table to compare notes.
All this while trying to keep up at her job, and develop a new romance with the detective thats on the case.
I found myself laughing there are many funny parts,. Like i said, her roommates were great fun!

The narrator was right on point! She did very well with the voices and was a joy to listen to!
I look forward to listening to book 2!

An easy and fun listen!

Casey starts her own sleuthing of an apparent suicide victim while working as a temp. It's a fun listen but too much inane detail.
Aisling Gray did a great job with narration...easy to distinguish between different characters especially the southern drawl when Effie was talking.
Overall an entertaining listen.

Fast moving.

I found this book enjoyable, fast paced and albeit not very realistic, a fun read

Casey Freemont was caught in the middle of the mystery of falling bodies. Being a temp worker in the office building worked out well so she could be a unofficial detective snooping about to find all the clues.
You could tell this story was written by a man and although he does quite a good job writing the main female character, some content just did not work. Sorry if a woman is raped the last thing on her mind is sex.

I enjoyed the narrator, Aisling Grey does a good job.

Didn’t Do It For Me

This is the first in a series of Casey Fremont mystery novels. I had high hopes for Casey, but it’s too soon to put her in the same class as V. I. Warshawski or Stephanie Plum. After a series of events like divorce, joblessness and a dead body that nearly strikes her after falling from several floors above, Casey ends up trying to solve the mystery. Author John Achor doesn’t make his character much of a detective in my opinion. All she does for the whole book is pump one stupid coworker and a cop love interest for information. Actual real sleuthing by the protagonist is pretty much non existent in this novel. Also, Casey isn’t the most likeable character either. Overall, I found “One Two, Kill A Few” a bit on the boring side. I don’t know what other reviewers read/listened to, but it definitely doesn’t seem to be the same book I listened to.

The reader, Aisling Gray, made me feel like she was sitting across from me telling her very credible story. There was no confusion of characters as she narrated. The story line put the listener right at the scene , almost as an observer. I enjoyed this book.

fast moving book

I enjoyed this book very much I did how ever think Casey was a bit bossy and into her self. would read it again I received this book free from the publisher or narrator or author for a honest and unbiased option.

Too Detailed

I found the book pretty boring. It was too detailed like what the heroine was eating and wearing and brushing her teeth. Also the plot was a little thin and dragged on. Seemed amateurish. However the narrators performance was excellant, especially when she had such thin material to work with. She had great voices for her characters, especially the Southern Belle Effie.

good story, great narration!

its no secret I love a good murder mystery! this was a fun listen and the narration was great. I can't wait to listen to more from this series. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Good first in a new series.

This review is for the audio version. One-Two, Kill a Few is the first in a new series by John Achor. It’s light, entertaining and the mystery is well plotted. I didn’t really warm up to the protagonist, Casey Fremont, but the story was interesting enough to keep me listening. She felt shallow to me. For example, when a body falls from the 10th floor to land a few feet from her, she’s more interested in the “hot” guy who knocks her out of the way than the dead man. Then the police show up and the detective is also very “hot”. I don’t remember the exact words, but as she walks away she’s thinking how she’s just met two hot guys who are both interested in her and how, except for the dead man, her day is getting better and better. I liked her new roommates and the relationship growing between the three of them.
The mystery in the book was good enough for me to try the second in the series, in hopes that the characters are more fully developed. The narrator, Aisling Gray, did a great job differentiating between the characters and her voice is easy to listen to.
