Publisher's summary

Stoicism is tailored for the “good life.” It doesn’t emphasize abstract, philosophical musings, like many other philosophies that might seem irrelevant to day-to-day life. It doesn’t require an education, a stellar IQ, or wealth to begin following its principles. One of its major thinkers was actually a slave, and another was an emperor. Clearly it’s a philosophy as applicable to those at top as to those at the bottom, to those who’ve known the best of life as to those who’ve known the worst, to the rich as to the poor, to the healthy as to the sick - because there are no true obstacles to bettering ourselves. All of its ideas are accessible and practical, giving us advice on how to become virtuous and strong.

It’s tough, but it’s worth it. Stoicism won’t tolerate weakness, immobility, defensiveness, ignorance, laziness, self-victimization, or denying responsibility. It tolerates nothing but your best. And it doesn’t care about who you are, only about who you could be, which is just what we’ll be covering here - how you can become more by cultivating a Stoic mind and strengthening your mental resilience.

Interesting, Useful Information

This is a good, short listen. Gives a good overview on Stoic thought. I'm a fairly stoic person, and this book gives a good rationalization of how stoicism can be applied to our lives and how it helps us to lead happier lives. This book would be helpful to people who are looking to have greater control over their lives and emotions. The narrator has a nice, calming voice.
This book was given to me for free at my request by the author in exchange for a fair, unbiased review.

An Excellent Guide on Stoicism

I had not realized, before listening to this book, just how I already have a stoic mind. I did enjoy listening to this audio book and learning how others can have their own stoic mind. I think it will be useful for those trying to better their own minds and actions. Stoicism is not for everyone but everyone could benefit from it. The narration was well done. John York has a nice calm voice and read at a decent pace. An enjoyable listen overall and if you are interested in learning about stoicism then you should give this book a chance.

Good Introduction

As a recent study of Stoicism, I found this a good second book to Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The narrator has a soothing voice akin to those old self help audio books designed to be listened to in your sleep.

A Book Trump should read

It is ironic but those who could gain the most from this Book will never listen it because they do not
know it even exists.

Everyone can gain insight from this Audio Book and can improve their life with the lessons that can be learned.

The Narrator did a good job with the material and helped to bring the information to the listener.

Stoicism is essential

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The guiding principles of Stoicism -- patience, endurance, calm -- are absolutely invaluable in daily life. This book provides excellent guidance in the application of Stoic principles to daily life.

It's relatively short, but well-narrated and it makes for an excellent commute listen. I recommend this book.

Stoic Mind

I think this book can help emotional people more than myself. I already do most of the things suggested.
