Publisher's Summary

Stoicism is an active philosophy. That means that it is not enough to know its doctrines; one must also live them and develop habits that expand on and complete their ideas in practice. Practice, therefore, is also the focus of this audiobook, as well as the development of the listener’s inner and outer lives, that they may follow their own path and discover what it means to “live life in accordance with nature”.

You will discover Stoicism and how to apply it.

The audiobook includes a general introduction to Stoicism that pulls no punches when faced with the more complex aspects of Stoic doctrine.

Topics addressed include:

  • The history of the ancient Stoics.
  • The nature of good and evil, virtue and vice, and positive and negative externals.
  • The difference between those things in our control and those things not in our control.
  • Stoic logic and practical reasoning.
  • Stoicism’s role in the development of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
  • Stoic exercises and daily practice.
  • Theology’s role in Stoicism and Stoic cosmology.

Also included in the bundle is an audiobook titled Daily Stoic Journal on Meditation, Stoicism, Wisdom and Philosophy to Improve Your Life

The audiobook is a collection of Stoic sayings organized to allow daily reference and inspiration.

Including quotes from:

  •  Marcus Aurelius
  •  Seneca
  •  Epictetus
  • And much more.

The Stoic advice covered in this volume runs the gambit from personal problems, to interpersonal relationships, to advice on work and productivity, to dealing with the hand of fate. Meditations in this audiobook are split up by seasons. There are meditations for each season, covering the four seasons.

Face the world with a new light with the help of these immortal thinkers and learn both to conquer yourself and to come to terms with those things you cannot control. Get your hands on this amazing Stoicism collection and bundle of ancient Greek philosophy!

Changed my way of viewing life

The author put in a lot of work to make a very easy to understand philosophy book. It was a nice blend of material so you don't get bored reading an endless story and you still get the key points. It provides a very good synopsis of all the famous philosophers, from ancient Greece to the present. The train of thought is conducive to approaching and understanding the ancient greek philosophers. I highly recommend it! Substantive and illuminating!

Perfect intro to Philosophy

Touches on the major concepts and philosophers. A lot to learn and remember but worth introducing yourself to. Well-researched. Philosophy is very hard to understand for many people but this book explains it so well. Clear, concise and not in depth in abstract issues one probably is not interested in if purchasing this type of book. Good overall exposure to the subject.

All you need in one place

This book has outstanding merit. Good comprehensive anthology. With this preference for reason came a critique of traditional ways of living, believing, and thinking, which sometimes caused political trouble for the philosophers themselves. It has so much in it about the Greek philosophers. It add insight one might not have just reading the works themselves. Great book!!

thinking, characteristics and characters

Each time our thinking and pondering give rise to compassionate action, our inclination to be compassionate is strengthened, making it more likely that we'll behave compassionately in the future. We're, in effect planting a behavioral seed that can grow into a habit. We our performing our character.

Undoubtedly classic.

Author have been able to make it clear why this philosophy need to be practiced. The Stoics have bewildered me for years with false impressions of old men, practicing sad philosophy. Trans formative, educational, life changing and profound. A relatively small book with enough wisdom and food for thought for a lifetime with specific directions for immediate action.

A Superb Introduction

In this extraordinarily easy to listen and fascinating introduction to the history of the Ancient Greeks. Great breadth of learning. I would have appreciated more treatment of scientific achievements. It is refreshing to find an author not consumed by the current politically correct culture that attempts to minimize the value of the Greeks. Great work and understanding of a period in human history that has influenced our thinking, culture and daily lives today.

An Excellent and Concise Survey

This is a good book for beginners of Stoicism and a good refresher for those who are more experienced. I gave this book to my teenage son and he has enjoyed as well and it did enough to peak his interest even further. The authors style and easy to follow rhetoric was a God-send. If you are starting in the journey of the Stoics, PLEASE read this book and support the authors efforts.

stoicism impress anyone

Stoicism, as it is presented in this format, is not meant to be entertaining or clever, nor is it meant to impress anyone. Very interesting to be learning from these greats of history, also interesting to learn the greats of this generation who are sharing and also learning from their experiences. Stoicism is something to definitely read into and start living this modern way. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

excellent daily reminder

It was an excellent daily reminder of how to properly view the world and served as a nice primer to Stoic thought. This book is probably meant for people who have never encountered Stoicism and would be a good start, but not for people already working towards Stoicism. Readers would do better to listen to and meditate from a stoic instead. It is completely based on practical understandings and tools we can adopt to live better lives. A fantastic, inspirational and concise, this book is the perfect way of absorbing and putting into practice the teachings of some of the greatest philosophers to have lived.

ability to understand, following the facts

Getting the facts about the physical and social world we inhabit, and the facts about our situation in it before we deliberate about normative matters. It means facing those facts-accepting them for exactly what they are, no more and no less - before we draw normative conclusions from them.

following our human nature

When it comes on my mind after listening in this audio-book following our human nature; what more comes on my mind is the fat-cat thing that the whole ideas were reacts and bass in our surroundings. Natural to find defining traits to human character and conduct, but it is equally to find a significant number of exceptions.

expanding knowledgeable thing

Even more pressing questions are raised when we face our own human realm, with the long and still expanding record of genocide and atrocity and the manslaughter that followed. These are major challenges for the Ancient stoic view of the world as rational and essentially good being.

behavior accord with nature

The stoics thought the best indication of an individual's philosophy was not what person said, but how a person behaved. Id rather to listen and continue amazed by this audio-book than to enroll in a leadership program that even the host will not rest assured of his/her behavior attitudes.

Philosophy is a very complicated subject,

Philosophy is a very complicated subject, but this book explains the concept of stoicism and what it all means. The author uses concrete everyday examples, such as donating to charity but putting yourself in tons of debt in the process.
