another great renagade star story

I was worried that a new narrator for the series might not keep the same feel and pace as the original but she does it great job

May Be The Best Entry In Renegade Star Series

I'm a big fan of the Renegade Star series, so I picked this one up. I am *so* impressed with this audiobook. It's a very compelling story about Abigail and her "sister" and how went from orphans in an orphanage to dangerous assassins. It's awesome stuff. The reader is also excellent.

One thing this does to you though is that after reading/listening to this book, you'll never see Abigail the same again, and that's both a positive and negative. I was on, I think book 8 when I switched to this story, finished it, and switched back to the remaining Renegade Star books. Now that I know Abigail's background, some of the things that she does and says and how she relates to Jayce seem wrong. Maybe at some point the "new Abigail" will get reflected better into the series. Meanwile, I look forward to a book chronicling the time between this book, and when she escapes with Lex.

worth listening to

I had listen to Renegade Star book 1 & 2 which I enjoyed. Recently decided to listen to the prequel book. Is interesting to get that back story on Abigail. The story is a reasonable and plausible one. None of the far out there stories some other series have. This was a good surprise. The story is good, but not the greatest story I've read/listen to. A good story and worth listening to.

This is Good, Few flaws, perhaps a bit predictable

I enjoyed this book very much It is well written and Follows a coming of age story of a great heroine becoming an assassin with her sister who becomes the antagonist.

what I am disappointed in was the lack of world building, and a lackluster of the progression of becoming an assassin.

to elaborate on that I can say more time could have been devoted to the process of the character's development to becoming mentally for being a professional killer. This is something that would have elevated the story quality. The character just goes along with it and only briefly struggled with the prospect. She just becomes and that is it.

As for the world building there is no elaboration of what the galaxy is like or why there is a very powerful guild of assassin's in a powerful nation state, granted this book is a precqual to a larger series so there is that fact of some gaping plot holes that are noticeable. this though does not make the story confusing or contradictory which is an accomplishment on the part of the author.

There is an element of sadism in this book and reader should be warned more clearly in the description of the book. It is violent and nearly gratuitous but I have read worse.

Overall this book has caught my interest and I think I will listen to the next one in the series.

Proformance of the narrator was excellent.

Was I Surprised? Hell Yeah I was!

So I’ve got my favorite genres and most of those suit me better with a male narrator. So this was my first book with female protagonists and a female narrator. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Tess is a super talented narrator - across the wide spectrum of voices she portrayed. The story was pretty good as well! Typical Chaney - just solid writing. I’d really enjoy a 2nd book about Abbey’s next adventure and even a 3rd book about Mabel and Pryor. There are some options I’d love to see explored. Well done all around. If you’re a virgin like me go ahead and squeeeeeeeze that trigger. You won’t be disappointed.

Thoroughly Entertained!

A good investment in my time traveling and working in the yard. Chaney does it again and again, so talented. Thanks for adding depth to the Renegade series. I love the nun's back story. A+++

why is our hero so stupid?

At first I thought that Clem was verifiably nuts. turns out that if you use the definition of " doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result", then our protagonist is the really crazy one.
