Publisher's summary

Holly's got a big problem . . . And this time, there's no dead body involved. At least, not yet. Her boyfriend's parents are coming into town for the Yule Feast and they're staying at the Beechwood Manor for an entire week!

With a paranormal meet-the-parents on the horizon, the last thing she needs is to stumble into yet another murder investigation, but when she becomes a key witness, there's no way of avoiding it. Especially not if vampires are involved and her human partner-in-sleuthing is racing right into their path.

Holly has to stop a ring of power-hungry vampires, charm a pair of uptight shifters, and keep herself out of supernatural prison. Piece of cake, right?

Witch Slapped

Great Story. Great action. Just enough mystery to keep me guessing. Loved leaning more about Holly. Really hoped Nick was a super. Oh well. On to the next story.

Vampires, witches and wolves...

Oh my! Great story and sort of reminds me of everyday life in the big city. From parole officers to business licenses to murder. A little bit of crazy; especially in laws all wrapped up in humor.

I'm rooting hard for Nick. Don't judge me.

Witch Slapped may be the best of the three so far in this series. There's a caveat though. It won't stand alone. You won't know who's magical or knows about magic if you don't start from the beginning. Also, I like Adam, but I'm firmly #TeamNick

Overall the book and the series are a lot of fun (a big criteria for me when I'm escapist listening). Here we have rogue vampires and a meet-the-parents scenario, murder, and conspiracy. The magical characters are well drawn and individual. I confess that I've lost track of who is who in the coffee shop. Small reminders of their back stories would have been helpful.

My only problem with the story? Holly is in Beachwood Harbor on probation because she's made some bad choices and isn't allowed in magical havens any more. So what does she do? She breaks her parole pretty flagrantly. I don't find this okay. I mean, no mitigating or overwhelming circumstances are presented in order for this to be excusable. She loses some of her heroine status (in my eyes) simply because of the way her potion making is handled. Maybe this will be addressed in subsequent books.

As for Amanda Ronconi - she would have to work hard to do something wrong for my ears. She's light and quirky and connects perfectly with any copy thrown at her. It feels to me as if she's doing more with her character voices these days, which is all to the good.
Recommend - but listen to the other books first.

This series keeps getting better

This series keeps getting better, Danielle Garrett keeps the series going as the characters continue to grow. Amanda Ronconi brings it all to life with her excellent performance. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

vampires, not interested.

I really enjoyed this series up until this book. Vampires are not my favorite subject. But at least they made them bad. The next book I hope will be better. The narration was really very well done.
