a book well-seasoned

I really enjoyed this, it was cute. good to have all the characters in one book. enjoy the narrator, I'm glad they use the same one.

This Story Is Included in Betwixt Vol 2

This audible contains four short stories: A Noel Nightmare (Chapter 1-from Holly’s POV), Nic’s Not So Silent Night (Chapter 2-from Nic’s POV), The Spirits of the Season (Chapter 3-from Scarlet’s POV), Flapjack the Red-Nosed Reindeer? (Chapter 4-from Flapjack’s POV), Holly’s Jolly Christmas (Chapter 5-from Holly’s POV).

Noel Nightmare is a good unresolved Christmas Mystery, very Christmasy, funny concept but ends quickly with no answer. Nic’s Not So Silent Night picks up the same mystery where the last left off but from Nic’s perspective. I really enjoyed this second story and was delightful some of the interactions between Holly and Adam as well as getting Nic’s insights on Holly’s behavior. Even for being so short this story felt so much more intimate in getting some perspectives on characters we’ve read about but from other viewpoints adds lovely detail. The end of this story sees the wrap up of certain mysteries while opening another as well as a way to set up the next story’s protagonist. The Spirits of the Season is from Scarlet’s perspective and picks up where the last story ended. This story was funny not the best of the bunch but made me smile while not offering any insight like some of the others. Continuing in the telephone game style this story leaves off with a set up for the next narrator who I was overjoyed to see. Flapjack the Red-Nosed Reindeer? is delightfully from the perspective of our favorite ghost feline himself. Though admittedly there was not the detail I expected, the action of what Flapjack was asked to do is hand waved and we only hear about the aftermath in discussion with the main crew of characters. The story was cute but did not add much and was disappointing considering my excitement to finally hear the internal thoughts of the feline. The final story Holly’s Jolly Christmas is from Holly’s perspective again and a brief one scene of Christmas day opening some presents. The story does not add anything and is not totally connected to the other shorts and is just the audience getting the briefest of peeks into the day of Holly and Adam. The final story really could have been dropped entirely. Overall I think the best story is Nic’s story, though the telephone style storytelling with the festive theme was fun. I do wish I had known that this was included in the Betwixt collection two as I purchased both and didn’t need to and frankly this is not worth the solo purchase. The audible description of Betwixt did not give the titles so I did not realize this was included.
