Publisher's Summary

From the author of the number one international best seller The Girl in the Spider's Web, the new book in the Millennium series, which began with Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo, the brilliant hacker, the obstinate outsider, the volatile seeker of justice for herself and others - even she has never been able to uncover the most telling facts of her traumatic childhood, the secrets that might finally fully explain her to herself. Now, when she sees a chance to uncover them once and for all, she enlists the help of Mikael Blomkvist, the editor of the muckraking investigative journal Millennium. And she will let nothing stop her - not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist, together, are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the most insidious problems facing the world at this very moment.

    "Disappointed!"

Of course David Lagercranz is not Stieg Larsson, My issue is that Lisbeth Salander in this novel is very different from Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander. I thought The Girl in the Spider's Web, Lagercranz's first novel in the Lisbeth Salander series, deserved 5 stars. But with The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye author Lagercranz seems to claim the Lisbeth character as his own and in so doing departs from the Lisbeth of the first four novels in the series.

Nevertheless, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye is a good suspense thriller which is well worth a listen for Lisbeth Salander fans. Simon Vance's narration is outstanding as it has been in all novels in the series.

For those who have not read or listened to earlier novels in the series, this novel is NOT the place to start. Start with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

    "Not Steig!"

His story lacks detail, Crispness and clarity. He is all over the place with these beloved characters. The new crises that he places Lizbeth in is contrived disjointed and underdeveloped. He goes from fake news to unstable financial infrastructures to Nazi conspiracies and experiments. If he wanted to attack all the ills of the universe, he should have written a bigger book! Too much going on and not a lot of good story telling. Lizbeth and the gang are gone with Steig.....

    "Lagercrantz Does A Great Job."

When a novel grips me right away, its hard to hear complaints about anything. Lagercrantz captures the essence of Salander and Blumquist's characters, while unravelling a complicated mystery worthy of those characters.

Lisbeth Salander is in prison, perhaps unjustly. A ruthless mafia figure is controlling the prison from its inner walls and is strangely focused on a young Muslim woman. This wakes the monster in Lisbeth who has always hated injustice. This part of the story exposes the evils perpetrated on women by Sharia law. It is really satisfying and fun to see the unique ways Salander chooses to help her fellow inmate.

The broader mystery revolves around how the government, under the guise of science, poured misery into the lives of innocent children like Salander. Even though the programs have long ended, there are those who will stop at nothing to prevent its exposure. Once again, Salander and Blumquist are hellbent on doing just that.

I have loved this series especially due to both authors making sure the revenge aspects in the stories are thorough and complete.

Simon Vance is excellent as always.

Do not pass up this wonderful addition to the Salander/Millenium series.

"By far the worst one in the whole series to date"

The beginning all the way to the three quarter mark was very good, about par with the rest of the series. But the near death of Leo and a capturing of Salander was as if a substitute writer were responsible....From that point to the end of the book seemed like it was extremely rushed, not near the quality as the first 3/4 of the book.

    "The best and the worst!!"

"The Girl in The Spiders Web" I have enjoyed
The most of the first 5 in the series. I've listened to it at least a dozen times!! The First 3 novels I've listened to at least 3 times each. Also watched the original movies a couple of times each also.
However, "The Girl Who Takes An Eye For an Eye" - I don't think I will listen to this one again!! I was expecting a lot more!!

"What a Disappointing Waste of Time!!"

After having awaited this book for so long, I was thoroughly disappointed. Lisbeth was nothing more than a footnote,, and her sister, Camilla, even less. Wish I could get a refund of both my time and money.

"A good wordsmith but not a good storyteller"

I really wanted to like the story. And I made myself listen to it all the way through. Which took a while because it was so scattered. The author tells rather than shows for most of the book. What a pity, the heritage of this story has such a great possibilities but it needed to be handled by a better storyteller.

"not as riveting as the first four but still good"

this is again an absolutely perfect narration of the fifth and most recent of the Millennium trilogy. Although very much in the style of the first four, this one seems a little bit more far-fetched and a bit flat. But if you have listened to or read the first four, you must listen to this one as well.

"Another outstanding read in a fantastic series"

I have read each novel in the Millennium Series and loved them all and this, book 5, is no exception. Truly a well developed story line and characters. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.
