Abby thought she was running away from her problems, but she wound up running into the arms of her worst nightmare.
"....from this point forward your will is no longer your own. You belong to me."
I thought I had found the perfect guy. Jake was handsome and sexy, and had eyes that could get me to do just about anything. The problem? The thought of being in love scared the hell out of me, so I called it quits and ran before I got in any deeper, driving off into a crazy winter storm.
When I woke up the next day, I was in a strange hospital and slowly came to the realization that I was being drugged and held there against my will by my ex-boyfriend Jake. He claims he's someone else though, a doctor in this dark, creepy private hospital in the middle of nowhere, but I know it's him, and I don't know how I'm going to get out of here.
First impressions: It must be said that for about the first 5 minutes, it seemed like this was in desperate need of a female narrator (even though I really like Logan McAllister) and was not going to work, but once the story got moving, both it and LM grabbed me and pulled me in so completely that I didn't think about it again. I absolutely loved this. Yes, it IS dark, so skip it if that isn't your cup of tea. It has the feel of a mystery/thriller/horror flick with a bit of creepy mansion/asylum, a good dose of true eroticism, real love and roller-coaster, psychological journeys for the main characters. I freaking LOVED it!!
Again, Logan McAllister does an excellent job of telling this story. (SO excellent that a super picky narrator reviewer such as myself can't find anything to complain about--even while finding something to complain about!) He performs female voices in dialogue but not in the descriptive paragraphs or the female character's internal musings, BUT that takes about 30 seconds to get used to and honestly does not detract from the writing in any way. He really does a phenomenal job of bringing the story to life and delivering it in the way I believe the authors intended it to be "heard."
Even though I would usually say that $10 is too pricey for less than 4 hours of audio, The Dark Doctor is so hauntingly different and unique that I believe it is worth the cash price because the authors managed to pack twice the awesome of a full-length novel into a smaller package. I am keeping these authors on my radar and look forward to more. I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review. Amazingly dark, twisted, & erotic! Will keep you guessing. Not suitable for people with triggers to sexual abuse. Ending was perfect and sensual!

There's so much room for improvement. The story needed more development. the main female character was not that interesting, the antagonist was actually interesting.
This story had an interesting premise & a plot twist that I'll try not to spoil here. There was a lot of promise. The idea was different, but just as I was getting into the story, there would be a sort of chop into the next thing. It kinda felt like it was missing the fleshy parts of the story. The BDSM in this was light, and again, just as it was starting to ramp up, it stopped & sorta ruined the moment. The end of the book was just plain depressing, I think it was supposed to be a HEA, but it didn't feel that way at all. I like a filthy BDSM story, even non-consensual, but I was traumatized by the descriptions of CBT & beating of young children. This book became very dark & not in a sexy way.
I have no idea why the narrator of a story that was easily 85% from a female POV was male. It really felt awkward for most of the book. The actual narration was good (quality editing, sound/volume levels, etc.).
I was gifted w this book in exchange for my honest review.
Audiobook - Narration, Logan McAllister, Really Good. He has the deepest, sexiest voice...
Little strange though, because it's a book that is primarily written from the female MC POV - he narrates in his deep sexy voice and uses his quite credible female voices only for female dialogue. Still enjoyed it, but thought that was a little different.
This is one of those books that could easily, and maybe should be re-written into a 9 or 10 hour audio. It comes in at 3:45 and I just wanted more!
Jake is the perfect guy, but Abby isn't quite as ready for love as he is, so she bolts, hits an Elk and ends up in a creepy private hospital. It soon becomes clear to Abby that she's being drugged and the mysterious Doctor holding her captive... is wha?... Jake????
He's decided he's going to keep her - forever - and begins training her in a rather brutal fashion to become his submissive.
So that's all I'm going to tell you or it will just ruin everything.
I felt like it could have been longer, because it seems there was a lot more story that I would have enjoyed hearing - specifically regarding Jakes history. It also touches on the inner desires of Abby while she's being "trained". She starts to develop some sort of dark desires - I say run with it!!!!
Overall, it's an enjoyable listen with some dark, kinky bits and a narrator that has a super sexy voice!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Ok so I loved the Darkness of the book and even the narrators tone but oh my goodness. Everyone sounds the same..really. I mean everyone and that just rubbed me but I would rather everyone sound alike than for a man to attempt to do a woman's voice and its all scratchy false sounding. But really next time 2 narrators will work. I did love Logan's voice for the men Jeff and Jake.
Any additional comments?
I was given this book in return for my unbiased honest opinion. I LOVED this Dark, Sick, Pathetic Trio and so wanted them to become a Menage. I really have to question my sanity because I found this story to be so so interesting and captivating. I loved every sick moment of the hospital part. I want to hear more about Jeff now. Great and Disturbing Book!!!
This book starts of with a monologue by Abby, our main character, in her car running away from her seriously hot boyfriend who apparently has scared her away by being too wonderful (girl has issues). During her detailed rant about Jake and how great he is but how scared that makes her (ug), the perspective changed twice from first to third person, which must have been an error because it made absolutely no sense and doesn't do it anywhere else in the book. Mid-runaway, Abby is in an accident and wakes up in a weird hospital where she eventually discovers that she's being held captive. She basically becomes a sex slave to her captor, but secretly kinda likes it (for reasons you will discover should you chose to read or listen). There are some major twists and turns, big discoveries, and surprises to keep the reader guessing what will happen next. This was such a short read/listen that I felt that the author could have taken a little more time delving into the dark pasts and thoughts of our characters. The story is mostly told through Abby's perspective until the end where the others' perspectives are introduced. I think hearing their voices earlier would have served to break up the Abby scenes and made it more interesting. The narration was ok. I wasn't blown away, but it wasn't terrible. I think I would have liked a female narrator for Abby's parts more, but that's a matter of taste.

A little dark, a lot suspenseful and some sweetness all rolled into one. Stella Noir and JB Duvane deliver a tale that is intriguing and keeps you listening. Jake and Abby have the most incredible relationship, and this scares Abby. She runs from the relationship as it gets too serious and has a car accident, landing her in a private hospital. Here she meets the doctor. This is no ordinary doctor. He plans on getting her healed and keeping her as his private sex slave! There are some intense scenes, lots of suspense and wonder of where Jake is!
Logan McAllister is an amazing narrator. He brings each character to life with it's own distinct voice. You hear passion, sadness, craziness and fear in all the right story lines. Definitely kept me listening!

The Dark Doctor by Stella Noire , J.B. Duvane is a quick dark read featuring Abby and Jake.
Abby is a writer, though she would never admit it to anyone. She has a bunch of hang ups and low self esteem. When things start to get hot and heavy with her boyfriend Jake, she runs.
While on the road, she gets into a terrible accident and she is forced to remember the things she tried to escape from.
This book was great, it was full of twists and turns at every corner. I only wish it were a bit longer and fleshed out the characters a bit more. There was a lot of emotional baggage that would've been great to develop further. The sex scenes were steamy and the main character was definitely a dom.
I recommend this book for those who don't mind a little darkness in their erotica and who don't mind a crazy plot twist.
Review for audio:
The audible was given as a gift in exchange for an honest review. Although I enjoyed the story, I found that i had to rewind a few times because I constantly tuned out the narrator. I felt that he was dry at times and kind of reminded me of the android voice reader. I'm glad I didn't give up because I would've missed out on a great book.
