Publisher's Summary

Savannah St. Claire grew up in a town where she was constantly bullied. Her only friends were brothers Billy and Travis Blue. The three of them were inseparable.

Billy Blue joined the Army when he turned 18 and was deployed to Afghanistan soon after. Four years later, Billy returns home and things are forever changed for this man who heroically fought for his country. He not only has to overcome his physical limitations, but he must confront his feelings for Savannah. With his confidence broken, he comes to the realization that there could be no way she would ever love him enough to look past the scars he possesses both inside and out.

A soldier to love

Any additional comments?

We meet a broken hearted Savannah, who was left behind by army boyfriend Billy. Billy left making Savannah believed he didn't love her any longer. Even after four years had passed, Savannah is still deeply in love with Billy. Hoping that one day Billy would come back and tell her he made the biggest mistake of her life, but he never did. A very good military love story.

Compelling yet not to heavy

I really enjoyed this book. This was a different book by Nicole Garcia than what I am used to. The characters felt more real. Not that they don't normally, but I really felt like so many soldiers and families could identify with the characters. I thought she did a great job of bringing the seriousness of veterans, military families, and what they face, into a sweet love story. It wasn't overly intense and she doesn't beat you over the head with it, but makes you think about the real life lives of these people. Great job. And, of course the narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross was wonderful. This is nice, sweet, short read that doesn't disappoint. I was provided this audiobook as an ARC.

Good quick listen

Who doesn't like a man in uniform? Nicole Garcia does a good job of bringing this story to life. It's a little bit angsty and a little bit steamy, but sweet at the same time. A second-chance story with a nice HEA. Definitely worth a listen.

Love Triangle in the works

This story really has three main characters Savannah, Travis and Billy. These three have grown up together, but only two can be together. Will she pick the brother who loved her and left her behind or the one who picked up the pieces and held her together? Great story Nicole!!!

Attention!!

I enjoyed this so much. This book brought so many memories of my time in the services. Nicole really touched on how often some of us come home after serving. Some scars are seen and unseen. I enjoy the love a person who wants to stick to you during the good and the bad. Using their love to heal all those wounds. Seen and unseen. This story touched my heart so much. Loved the narrators voices. They drew me in so deep.

Good Listen

Savannah and Billy along with his brother Travis were inseparable. Savannah and Billy had a relationship until Billy joined the military and told Savannah it was over and ceased all contact with her. Now he is back and thinks Savannah will not want him because of his injuries. But there is another problem Travis has developed feelings for Savannah and wants her for hisself. Can Billy win Savannah back or has his years of ignoring her sent her into the arms of his brother.

2nd chance at love

This was a cute short listen. Savannah and Billy were high school sweethearts. He broke up with her to go to the Army. The characters were strong and could tell they belonged together.
Kai and Wen were amazing at narration. I could feel or sense the emotions of the characters through their voices.

Very sweet short story

I loved the combination of Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross, their narration worked beautifully together, they gave such emotion to the story.

This is a really sweet short story full of heartache and emotion. It captured me and pulled me along with it. I really enjoyed being able to see both points of view and get a behind the scenes look at what was going on and what each person was thinking.

What a sweet story!!

Nicole Garcia is a favorite of mine. Her stories are always fun to read, and they are always pertinent. Savanna has loves Billy for a long time, but he broke her heart when he left for boot camp.

Billy lives Savanna, but he breaks it off because of where he’s going and what he’s doing. He doesn’t want her to suffer if something happens to him. But she has suffered, every day.

Four years later, he returns... she didn’t know he’s coming, and no one knew he’s been injured.

Will they still be in love and find the way back to each other?? Has Savanna moved on?? This book is well worth the listen! Kai and Wen Toss are awesome... as usual!!

A Military Romance

What a short but sweet second chance love story. Saving Private Blue was emotional and full of angst. I couldn't help but fall in love with both Billy and Travis. While I understand that Savannah's heart had been broken, I would have thought she might have been more understanding and caring when Billy came back home considering she worked at a Veterans' Hospital and talked with many patients there and saw how the war had affected them both physically and mentally and the challenges they faced after coming home. I was very happy with the ending though. Considering this says it is book 1 of a series, I hope that Travis ends up getting his own story because he deserves his own happily ever after.

Kai and Wen's back and forth duet narration was extremely well done as always. They did an amazing job bringing this story and these characters to life.

Excellent narrators

I liked this and there’s lots of feelings in this story but I kind of felt like I jumped in to the middle of the story. However, it was well worth listening to.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Lots of good dialogues
Characters are well described
Good chemistry between the main characters.

Narrators:
I love the narrators, clear pronunciation and read with passion makes me feel like I’m inside the story.

Fantastic Story & Audible Listen🎧 Heartfelt!!

I loved this book, it well written and it captivated my heart and my mind from start to end. Nicole Garcia fit a lot of story into this novella, the storylines are interesting, realistic and easily relatable. The characters are complex and well developed. Savannah’s best friends are Billy and Travis Blue. She was in love with Billy but he left her broken hearted and cut all ties with her before he left to to go serve his country. He did this out of love, he wanted her to live her life and not have to worry about him. Billy returned home four years later a wounded man. During that time Travis fell in love with Savannah but does she feel the same or is Billy still her true love. I liked all three characters and how their story played out. Nicole Garcia did a great job capturing some of the struggles soldiers face returning home after serving, the injuries and PTSD. I highly recommend this heartfelt story, there is drama, some angst and hot romance. Thank you Nicole Garcia for the emotional rollercoaster ride and another great & entertaining story.

I listened to the Audible edition, narrated by the talented Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. They bring the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. You can hear how much heart they put into their performance while projecting the emotions of the characters. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for another great listen🎧
