Publisher's summary

In this thrilling romantic mystery, Laura Black is an investigator for the highly successful but slightly shady Scottsdale lawyer, Lenny Shapiro. This time, she's tracking down a wealthy Scottsdale cougar named Jacky Wade, who's been missing for a week and her clueless boyfriend, Terry Lennox, is getting desperate. But even after Laura manages to find Jacky, it seems that the trouble is only beginning. First comes the death threat. Next there's the murder. Finally there's the kidnapping.

Laura's best friend Sophie and fellow investigator Gina Rondinelli help with the hunt while Laura enlists a group of man-hungry cougars to search the nightclubs of Scottsdale. Unfortunately, this all leads Laura into the arms of Carlos the Butcher, a guy with some serious anger issues.

If this wasn't enough to keep her busy, Laura's next door neighbor, Grandma Peckham, is on the prowl for a new boyfriend and she's in serious need of Laura's dating advice. All of this might even be manageable if it wasn't for the fact that Laura is also trying to start a real relationship with plainclothes cop Jack Reno. The only problem there is that she is also having romantic thoughts about the gorgeous and dangerous crime lieutenant, Maximillian.

With equal parts humor, action, and mystery, Scottsdale Squeeze is the perfect light, fast, and fun summer novel.

This book will have you in stitches.........

Scottsdale Squeeze is the second in a mystery series featuring Laura Black, an investigator working for an attorney in Scottsdale, AZ, along with her best friend, Sophie, and fellow investigator, Gina. Although I read the first book in the series, Scottsdale Heat, I think this book could be read as a standalone. In Scottsdale Squeeze, Laura is tasked with finding a woman, Jacky D, recently separated from her husband. Jacky has joined a group of fellow cougars always out looking for a good time with younger men, and she proves relatively easy to locate. However, that is when the true action starts, and I was continually surprised at all the twists and turns this adventure takes. In addition to juggling work challenges, Laura is trying to rekindle a relationship with a Scottsdale police officer, trying not to give into the amorous attentions of a crime lord's enforcer, and trying to keep up with the libidos of some sex-starved friends, neighbors and clients. Overall, this was a wonderfully fun story packed with equal amounts of comedy, action, and romance.

Lily Harmon does a terrific job with the narration. She handles with ease the different characters and accents, and I love how she handles Laura's inner voice to make her dry wit even funnier. The combination of Trimmer's storytelling and Harmon's narration shouldn't be missed.

Mixed views

I really liked the mystery in this because it took me a while to figure out who did it but I found the character acted like hormonal teenagers at time. I had to remind myself that they are older then they acted.
There are a lot of sex talk or references and profanity with some violence.
If you like this sort of thing with your mystery than this is for you.

Solid, well written mystery

This is the second book in the Laura Black series. The stories can be stand alone. Characters and events from the previous novel were mentioned but there was enough context provided for it to make sense. Laura Black is a PI navigating the criminal underworld of Phoenix. The mystery aspect of the novel is solid, and balanced with memorable characters, snappy dialogue, and humorous situations.

I look forward to reading more from this series.

Solid followup

As mentioned in other reviews, this book can be a stand alone, but why miss the first book? I enjoy the mystery and I think the narration it well matched for the character. I don't quite understand why the women talk about sex so much. It just seems out of place, it isn't bad, it just stands out as being odd.

What a fine, warm weather read.

The book is one of those bite-size, easy, summer reads.

However, the narrator is spectacular. Radin flexion, especially with accents. Spanish, Italian, outerborough New York. A great listen.

Steamy Stephanie Plum Like Story

This book reminded me a lot of the Stephanie Plum Series. It was a lot of fun but just like the Plum Series is definitely geared for a more mature crowd with the language and content. That being said I actually think this was a bit cleaner in some ways. If you like this genre then you'll love this book and series, it's steamy, funny and has enough twists to keep you into the story even though you know about halfway through who the bad guy is. The narrator does a phenomenal job with the acting, voices and story telling... She was a lot of fun to listen to.

Great listen

I didn't listen to the first book in this series and that's my loss. I'm onboard now though!!

Laura Black is a great character! She's part detective, part walking sex. The fact that she has connections to the mob just makes her more intriguing. I liked her immediately.

There was really no great mystery. We know who the bad guy is. The story was more about Laura following the crumbs.

The narrator's male voices were insane! That's actually saying something when you consider the narrator is female. I actually thought it was a duo narration at one point.

I liked how the book ended and I look forward to the next one.

Loved it !!

I love a good detective and/or spy novel. I don't want to say to much as you do have to read it for yourself; but the twists and turns will take you on quite enjoyable..

Great detective story!

Scottsdale Squeeze is the 2nd book of the Laura Black Mystery series but it stands alone. Laura Black works for an attorney in Scottsdale Arizona. Laura is investigating a missing person and we accompany her as she interviews people and gather clues. Very enjoyable story that is very nicely read by the narrator. I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Love this Series

I absolutely love the Laura Black series. I listened to the first 2 books on Audible and then read the remaining books in the series on my Kindle. I really wish the remaining books would come out on Audible as I would buy them even though I have already read them.
