I need MORE

This is the second book of the series MY LIFE AS AN ALBUM by LJ Evans. It really has left me speechless. My heart is racing, loving the storyline. My heart was breaking, mending, then aching until the end. Such relief and joy for Derek and Mia. Loved seeing past characters and how they are doing. I cannot wait to start the next book! The bar is set high.

Again, Sarah Puckett performed perfectly as she guided us through the the emotional roller-coaster of this story. She is a wonderful narrator.

My younger self might give it 4 stars

My biggest gripe with this story is that Mia is 22-years-old but acts/thinks much younger. I wanted to reach out and shake her and tell her to stop acting so insecure. This is particularly irritating since she presents herself at the beginning of the story as a professional, taking over her father's car dealership with all its attending responsibilities. I know that young professional women can be basket-cases of insecurity inside, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to shake those same women in real life! Ms. Evans' biography says she is the mother of a daughter, so I desperately hope that her future heroines will present with more self-confidence. My other tiny complaint is that the parents of said 22-year-old are made out to be nearing retirement and in need of careful handling. Sigh. That said, the story was interesting and flowed well, the surroundings were expertly conveyed (be it the Tennessee heat or the beauty of the underground caves), and BB (book-boyfriend, a nickname Mia uses internally when she first meets Derek), is most definitely swoon-worthy and deserving of the name. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A heartfelt journey!

Adored Mia and Derek! Their relationship grew slowly and beautifully over the course of their adventure across the country in Mia’s late brother Jake’s Camero. They learned what made each other tick, what the other craved and needed, what true love could feel like. They also learned that life is too short to feel sorry or let negativity fill your thoughts and space.

I really enjoyed the little bit of heat in this story. It wasn’t the focus, but when it was addressed it was sweet and sexy. The author did a great job giving just nuggets of smut without it feeling like that was the entire focus of their relationship. It worked very well for these two.

The ending of the story was dramatic and sweet! I’m happy with how the author wrapped up their journey and I cannot wait to see them in future books in this series!

My only peeve with the story was Mia’s constant use of quirky phrases to express emotion. “Cheese on a cracker!” type outbursts. It was cute the first few times and representative of her unique personality but after the 10th one or so, it started to grate on my nerves! The overuse made her character feel extremely juvenile. Then when the heroine started doing it, I just wanted to eye roll like Cam.

Real, sweet, sexy story. Beautiful narration!

I read this months after reading "My Life as a Country Album," and diving back into this world (where Jake and Cam still "were") was comforting and felt like home. Mia is stuggling with some inner demons but has an opportunity to go on an adventure. Enter Derek, a sweet, genuine, sexy, up-and-coming rockstar. The relationship that develops between Mia and Derek is real, believable and infused with just the right amount of heat and slow-burn that you know is going to come to an explosive peak! The characters and their struggles were very relatable. Mia and Derek work so well together and compliment each other so well. They both have their own struggles to overcome and I really enjoyed seeing them navigate life and their relationship, finding a way to make it work.

The audio is quite beautifully narrated by Sarah Puckett. She's become one of my favorite female narrators and was the perfect choice for this story.

I'd like to thank LJ Evans and the Audiobook Obsession Review Team for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Pop Life

Good girl Mia is filled with grief and remorse after her brother Jake dies. She does all she can to keep her parents from worrying and has adopted the good girl persona. She surprises herself and those who love her when she decides to embark on a three-week road trip with Derek.

Woooweeee! My heart! While not as heartbreaking "My Life as a Country Album," this book still pulled at my heart strings. It gives a deeper look into Mia's life in Jake's shadow. Oh the guilt she carried around! Derek was the perfect person to get her to remove herself from the chains she put on herself. Mia was the perfect person for Derek to delve into his past and how it chained him down.

I loved how there were cameo appearances from Cam and Blake as well as other characters we grew to love from Country Album.

The narration by Sarah Puckett was beautiful and brought these characters to life.

My Life as a Pop Album

L J Evans continues to wow me in this series. Book 1 crushed me but this one moved me I other ways. So much emotion. (Spoiler for book 1- but you know this if you read the blurb). My heart broke for Mia and her guilt over Nate’s death and well as her self imposed “sidekick” status. She lived so much in his shadow and it was beautiful to see Derek get the “Little Bird” to fly free on her own. Derek has some on his own demons and guilt but they truly helped each other become their true selves.
Bonus to see Cam and Blake happy together too. I’m so loving this series and it’s quickly becoming a favorite.

Taking chances

What a FANTASTIC story about grief, forgiveness, healing, taking chances and finding love!❣️ This is the second book in “my life as an album” series and this one pulled at my heartstrings & emotions just as hard as the first book. Immediately after I recovered from listening to book #1 in this series (it shattered me to my core in the best possible way), I HAD to download book #2 on audible. Sarah Puckett is a phenomenal narrator!! LJ Evans has a way of reaching deep into your soul and making you go thru ALL the emotions reading (or listening to) this series. The way she uses song lyrics within her books will have you hearing those songs in a completely different light. I highly recommend listening (or reading if audiobooks aren’t your thing) to this series. ❤️

It took me a while to start this book...

After the heartbreak of listening to book one I had to have a break and listen to a couple of romcoms...

But when I finally put my big girl pants on I started the story of Jake's Sister, Mia..  It helped me breath again, finding Mia able to rebuild her life with the gorgeous Derek. Being able deal with and overcome the guilt she felt following the loss of her brother showed her inner strength!

This Truly is a beautiful series

I was totally impressed with Sarah Puckett's performance! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎤

My Life as a Pop Album

I loved this book. I think it was a great book to jump into after Jake and Cam's story. I loved how Mia finally got to truly live for herself. By doing that found love along the way. Can't wait to see whose book is next. Sarah Puckett did an amazing job narrating.

5-🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠❤❤

I loved it, I just loved it!!! This is what you call a for real, down-to-earth, fantastic, romance novel. L J Evans is new to me, but after listening to Volume II of her "My Life As An Album Series; I'm going to become real familiar with her.

I'm taken by her style of writing. She has this way of drawing her readers/ listeners in, andyou can't stop until you finish it. "My Life As A Pop Album," was a very visual novel. I could actually see so much by her exquisite descriptions.

Now; as far as it comes to Sarah Puckett, she has always been one of my favorite narrators for a long time, and I'm sure that won't change.

Sarah knows how to be in character. She knows how to be whatever the author's storylines calls her to be, that's what you get from Sarah; perfection.

5-🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠 for both, the author & the narrator, and definitely a 👍up recommendation from me to others.

Great listen

Sarah is phenomenal at story telling. She has a knack for conveying every emotion and really sucking into the story. The author wrote a terrific story about finding yourself and love. I enjoyed how she took some great songs and told Mia and Derek’s story. It was different and held my interest from start to finish. Will definitely be listening/reading more of this author.

Sweet with good characters

This was a sweet book. I may have liked it even more if I was a strong Ed Sheeran fan but still, I enjoyed the book and found it very well done. What a novel idea to base the book on a series of songs from one artist.

Mia meets Derek and both have their personal pains. Mia is holding on to a lot of guilt while Derek is trying to move on from his family’s past. Derek, a rock star, is sweet, attentive and authentic. Mia felt a little young to be, a bit immature, but still a character that I really liked, if a bit difficult to identify with. The story had some amazing parts but also some parts that felt slow.

I borrowed the book from KU but also received the audiobook. The narrator, Sarah Puckett, was great as usual. She has a perfect voice for Mia and does a nice job with pacing and overall, infusing emotion into the story.

Here's to the book boyfriend.

Very much a romance book. With the focus on the lead male character and his band. What I liked was that the girl in this book loved book's. So she refers to him as a book boyfriend which I found very funny. There's a few sad moment's throughout the book. But a very enjoyable listening experience.

An amazing follow up novel

This is the second book I have listened to / read from the series. I must say that i was a little reluctant as I enjoyed the first novel so much and was scared that the sequel would take away some of the magic. Boy was I wrong to be worried !!! I love how this could be read as a standalone but in order to enjoy it to its top potential I would advise reading the first book ( my life as a country album) first. It is genius how the author has intertwined the two books and the reader gets to find out more about characters who were first introduced in the previous book. The story itself is as beautifully written and I also adore that it is the same narrator that reads the both. The pairing are fast becoming my new favourite writing team. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

More than Words!

My Life as a Pop Album is an incredible listen! L J Evans was fantastic in writing this book with Mia as the focus, and with cameo appearances of Cam from My Life as a Country Album. I loved how heartfelt this story was, and how Mia learned to step out of her comfort zone. The author took tragedy and turned it into something wonderful. Learning to live after loss is a something I took from this book. Sarah Puckett performed this book brilliantly. Her emotions could be felt, and she brought the characters to life. She is the voice of "My Life as a ..." books. I loved how this book is both a standalone listen, and has overlapping characters from a previous book by the author. The imagery in this story is so well done. I could envision so much! The symbolism was incredible too! I highly recommend this listen. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator! Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this wonderful listen. I absolutely loved it!
